  1. Hey guys, my internet/landline is gubbed and I was ill for a few days. Still not sorted. Has any one started gathering deposits in my absence? If not I can book on Monday.
  2. Sorry Patsy, I'm blind. You're on the list!!
  3. The bus has to be picked up and dropped off either at Linlithgow or Newtongrange. What I'm suggesting is we make Newbridge village the official leaving point, purely because after driving all that way, the last thing someone is going to want to do is head for Perth to drop people off and then come all the way back to Linlithgow. Sharing 3 cars and leaving them at Newbridge village will more than cover the Perth contingent. Provisional departure would be 1pm on Tuesday from Newbridge. Route planner suggests around 8 hours to The Tunnel. Take the midnight crossing which would have us in France before 1am. Route Planner has it as another 9 hours to Luzern. By the time we stop for some Croissants and Baguettes en-route we'd be arriving by Wednesday Lunchtime. I imagine there will be a few sore heads come Friday morning so I'm suggesting a 10-11am departure with the aim of getting the midnight crossing back (or round abouts). Should have everyone back home by Saturday 12pm at the latest. It's around 8 hours this side of the Channel and 9 on the otherside. With driver changes every 2-3 hours this will be easily manageable and everyone should be pretty well rested. I suggest travelling at night as the roads will be dead and I know If I'm driving on the wrong side of the road I'd prefer to do it with minimal traffic. You're reserve No.1 mate. We're only taking 15 as I luggage space is limited. I'm sure you'll get on though, not everyone is going to be up for it.

Chansey I have just received a final quote for the bus of £565 for 5 drivers, collision waver plus an additional £50 refundable deposit. I'll call them in the morning to ensure that covers overseas travel as there's no mention of it. I've also just realised my photocard has expired and I can't find my counterpart so someone else may have to make the actual booking. I'm not sure if I'll get a replacement from the DVLA within the next 3 weeks? Essentially we'll need £750 to cover the hire and the tunnel crossing. This means we need someone to make the booking. It will require 15x £50 from everyone wanting to go as we have to provide proof of our return channel crossing to the company at the time of booking. This also means we'll also have to decide which crossing we're going to aim for. Personally I think the midnight crossing on Tues night is the one to go for, alternatively there's a 6am crossing but we wouldn't get into Lucerne until late afternoon/early evening Wednesday which would be tougher on the drivers. Willing Drivers - I need to know when you passed your test. Only Pre-1997 license holders can legally drive overseas. Can I get confirmation ASAP from everyone who's name is listed? I'd like to have everyone's £50 deposit by Thurs/Fri to book everything by Sunday at the latest. We'll get someone well known and responsible to gather the deposits! Final Cost £1500 or £100 per person. breakdown: £615 for Vehicle hire £600 for fuel (should be nearer £500 in reality) £140 for Channel crossing £25 for Swiss M'way permit £40 for tolls £80 unnaccounted expenses (I'm not sure on toll prices for minibuses, my costs were based on cars)
  5. Bus provisionally full! 1. Ryangordon86 (driver) 2. Darren Paterson (potential driver) 3. Ghostie 4. Gordon Bell (driver) 5. Aitchy 6. Saintly Child (driver) 7. BundeSaint (driver) 8. Chansey I should have definite prices sorted by tomorrow afternoon.
  6. No problem. I'm looking to book up probably by the end of the week.
  7. Have you priced the flights back from Stanstead? Cheapest flights I could see back to Edinburgh was £70+
  8. If we're taking a bus we can always take crates of beer!
  9. No I've not. Would definitely go for that. I'm not sure how they'd manage that for £1500 but get back in touch to confirm it. That's the same as it would cost to do it ourselves!

  11. Thank you Swissly Think we may cap the limit at 15 rather than 17 if the bus is going to be under £600. That way there is extra luggage/leg space.
  12. Scratch that. I think I might be able to get a similar bus for around £500-600 all in. Waiting on the company getting back to me.
  13. When getting my original quote I forgot to add additional drivers. They're £10 each per day. Breakdown of costs. 17 seat Minibus hire inclusive of 5 drivers, Vehicle Damage Waiver and Overseas cover from Tues 1200 - Sat 1700: £1115 Channel tunnel crossings at the minute all equate to around £50-70 each way if we can book soon and get advanced prices. These would be the only up from costs. I am going to shop around elsewhere to try and beat that quote. On the basis of 17 going, it will work out at £75 each up front for the costs mentioned above. This would probably need to be booked by Credit Card knowing car hire companies. Something I don't have. Tolls are around £50 obviously not payable in advance. I'm estimating fuel at being between £500-600 (25mpg works out at just over £500). If We set aside £750 between us for running costs and tolls that equates to another £45 each upon collection. Anything left over can be split among us. £130 for your transport to and from the game. http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/web/Routes?intItineraryType=0&isAvoidVignette=false&caravaneHidden=false&vh=CAR&strDestLocid=31MzcwZjEwY05EY3VNRFExTlRJPWNPQzR6TURnd013PT0=&isFavoriseAutoroute=false&carbCost=1.6&isAvoidFrontiers=false&distance=mi&empriseH=275&reinit=true&indemnite=0&strStartLocid=31NDNuNmMxMGNOVFV1T1RVeU16Zz1jTFRNdU16VTNNems9&dtmDeparture=2014-23-06&empriseW=315&strVehicle=0&Fp=&devise=EUR&Fl=0&isAvoidPeage=false&isAvoidLNR=false Ideally i'd like to make the midnight tunnel service which would have us in Lucerne for late morning/lunchtime on the Wednesday. That would leave plenty drinking/party time!
