  1. Even Saints 1st team has a few jersey fillers at the moment.
  2. Tommy and the coaches do a fantastic job but I think the younger local lads are missing out at the moment and that could influence the development of the local talent available to Saints in the future. Perth historically does not produce players and this is one area where Saints could help to address this problem.
  3. The standard of coaching the boys receive at u13 level is excellent. They train 3 times a week (90 min sessions) including 1 hr sports science and then play against the best players in Scotland every weekend. After two years at this level I have noticed a big difference in the fitness and skill level compared to boys who are playing boys club football.
  4. We're still missing the winger that Del has tried to find for the past two seasons and a couple of strikers. Davidson will probably go south and I'm surprised there's no interest in Chris Millar from the Championship.
  5. The boys train with Saints 1hr per week and gain no match experience. Saints are the only SPL team not involved in Performance Tier and I think it shows a lack of ambition by the club. The funding the clubs receive from the SFA doesn't pay the full cost of running their youth set ups and Geoff is probably not keen to fund the balance required.
  6. Six Perth based boys played for Dunfermline u13's v Rangers u13's today. The game finished 2-2 with Rangers equalising in the last minute. It's unfortunate that these boys have to look elsewhere to play at this level as Saints don't have teams at this age group.
  7. I would imagine that the employees of St.Johnstone FC are more concerned with his ability and what he has to offer to the team rather than that he has spent time in prison. If he is a decent individual I'm sure that he will be more than welcomed by the players and any strikers not scoring goals realise that they are on borrowed time.
  8. Good luck to JR. Both families involved and himself have had a terrible time which if we're all being honest could have happened to anyone of us. On the football front if he doesn't start I'll be dissapointed as our strikers are off form and hopefully his goals can take us to Hampden on May 21.
  9. Managed to get two buses organised as a back up just incase Motherwell fail to knock out the Arabs.
  10. Stagecoach don't have any buses available on that day. I'm still waiting on a few companies getting back to me but a Motherwell win seems the best option.
  11. I've tried Moffat & Williamson, Earnside and Docherty's but none of them have any buses. We'll just have to hope that Motherwell knock Utd out of the cup next week.
  12. Both our buses are full. Unfortunately Dundee United supporters have booked all the coaches from Smith and Sons and at present we're still trying to get two buses from other companies. We're booked into the QP Social Club before and after the game.
  13. I was only a youngster at the time but I remember the ref sending him to the stand and Jimmy was visibly upset. The crowd gave the ref pelters. Brilliant when the ball went over the main stand or enclosure and Jimmy sprinted off to retrieve the ball to cheers from the crowd.
  14. Tynecastle's capacity would be ideal for Saints, Brechin, Utd or Well, whoever makes it through to the semi-final.
  15. Don't agree with all this rubbish about the pitch being barely playable! This pitch was perfectly playable, that's the problem with modern day football we expect the game to played on a bowling green. 30 years ago even Ghostie wouldn't have mentioned the pitch was slightly heavy! Great day out in Brechin today, would have taken a draw this morning, Hampden here we come!
  16. Brechin did well but at no time during the 90 mins did I feel we were going out of the cup.
  17. Spoke to owner of the hotel we're heading to in Brechin who are also providing the catering for the match. He is confident the match will go ahead and Brechin City have volunteers on standby with shovels to clear the snow.
  18. Hopefully if they do call it off they'll wait until we're all in Brechin enjoying a few beers.
  19. There was an incident early in the game which sums Cleve up. He had the ball at the half way line with the full back closing him down. Rather than knocking the ball into space behind the defender and attempting to take him on he couldn't make up his mind what to do and ran the ball out of the park. I like Taylor as he puts in a shift for the team every time he plays but he's not good enough at this level.
