  1. Opening matches of the season and ... Same old SPL - Same old Refereeing - Same old OF. They're being handed points from the off. There's no way that any club other than one of the OF can win the SPL. It doesn't matter how well other teams play - and I'm no fan of St Mirren or Dundee Utd. but in the last handful of games (incl. last season) against OF teams they have been blatently cheated out of at least a share of the points. I believe moves are afoot to keep (unofficial) Statistics on how many times the OF get unwarranted help in order to save them from a defeat, or manage to gain a draw from a certain loss due to a bad decision, or (like yesterday) just get awarded the three points. What happened to 'the benefit of the doubt'. It certainly should have been applied yesterday and play allowed to continue. But the ref simply could not wait to award a penalty, the number of re-runs it took before Setanta (Booth etc.) finally realised it was 50-50 (Or six in hauf a dozen) how the ref can justify awarding the penno immediately is beyond belief. Anyway I'm not getting involved this season as It drives me nuts - week in week out, somebody's gonna get screwed against the OF. Cue - M'stand kk
  2. FFS WTF - Can someone fill me in on how many cups there are these days. I mean we've just gone out of the Challenge cup - Is this one the Auld League Cup, or a Cooperative Divi Holders only cup, or the WOS v EOS cup, or last years failed Scottish Cup challengers or just the Scottish cup wie yet another sponsor or what? Seems ridiculous having all these cup competitions going when the season has hardly started. Mind you I suppose you could get yourself out o' them all and concentrate on the league from the very start. Hmmm yes.
  3. I blame 'The Bay City Rollers'. Ever since them ye had tae be able to sing (apore) to be a 'true supporter' (Allegedly)
  4. Bob Crampsey - A man of many colours but "A Legend in Black and White" and yes he did win Brain of Britain.
  5. I would feel that I could comment upon the opinions of those who had been at the game. (Likewise a movie) Without personally 'slagging' the team. The general opinion seems to be that it was a poor match and we were pretty dire. The general sense of optimism I saw building as we approached the start of the new season was always going to lead to disappointment if we started in our usual fashion. I hope you're not suggesting it was MY toys that left the pram. I've only got the one so have to be very careful where it goes.
  6. Nobody said the season was a write off. You obviously couldn't wait to be the first one to complain about somebody being dissatisfied with today's performance. Fact is we're out of a competition after the first 90 minutes of a new season. The guy is entitled to be disappointed. I wasn't there but looking at later posts it appears that we have been way, way over optimistic about the enthusiasm of this relatively newish' squad. For instance are we really going to go back to the route one long ball to the big front man. I would have hoped that we could have stuck with the passing game that suits us so well. However what worries me more (if this is so) was the apparent lack of commitment.
  7. We need a good keeper, I'm not saying Mc'Lean isn't I haven't seen him. But you've just got to look at the likes of Boruc and Robertson who managed to keep their respective teams in many matches last season which enabled them to get the desired results in the end. Two fairly average (not much better than the rest) teams IMHO but with decent keepers.
  8. We need to get the club to start a St Johnstone ladies team (Saintees) That should ensure that people go back to using 'Saints' when referring to the male team. Wishful thinking?
  9. Did the "gers" have a game today?
  10. A good point 'slf' and when it does - what are the "I HAVE A RIGHT TO A HOLIDAY IN xxx EVERY YEAR AND NOBODY CAN STOP ME GOING" brigade or the "I DRIVE MY CHILDREN 200 YDS TO SCHOOL EACH DAY BECAUSE IT SAVES TIME" shower going to do then....?? We will eventually return to the days where only 'some' people will have the luxury of mechanical transport and holidays may no longer mean that you have to travel abroad or the length of the country - ie. you'll be able to relax. And probably not a bad thing - mind you I won't be around to see it.
  11. On the other hand - You could say that the ruling Party in Scotland view it like that as well... What goes around, comes around.
  12. Spot on. And it could be that there will be as many, if not more, Scottish players playing in the EUFA Cup Final as English Players appearing in the Champions (ahem!) League Final - which is between two supposed English teams. Well... at least they are based in England.
  13. They're showing the 2nd half here on BFBS Ascension. So here goes...
  14. Simply amazing that we've gone downhill so fast after it's become obvious that we were out of the race. I hope that no one is surprised that attendances are liable to fall linearly in line with the declining results. What a way to lose the home record - with nothing at stake as well. And despite all the garbage that certain players have been spouting in the press about the need to keep winning. Yeah Yeah.
  15. 2nd match on the trot - If we keep this pish up the Albino's will be the next club to think we throw (ie. we can't win the league so it's no big deal) matches when it suits. Absolute unacceptable lack of effort garbage and totally unfair to Stirling Alb. It stinks - sends out completely the wrong message and will obviously upset them, not to mention our own fans who are paying good money to watch these sort of matches. For goodness sake the season is nowhere near finished - is it? I can't wait for the comments from those that made the effort.
  16. I just came in and switched teletext on - I think is that a corrupt scoreline I'm seeing.....Nah!!!
  17. Well - Three today, so far, so he must be doing something right.
  18. I assume all the others in the team are consistently brilliant during warm-up.
