Completely out of touch I'm afraid. Folk don't work hard all week to then race across to Kilmarnock or Dingwall on a Friday night. A kick in the teeth and a complete lack of appreciation for the loyal fans that follow the team across the country.

Was there a big delay on M8 before the accident? We headed west, over Erskine Bridge, then down Great Western Rd and merged back onto motorway just after Charing Cross tunnel. Only took about 20 mins and, having seen what it's like trying to get away from Ibrox, would maybe just do that again if we were in Paisley when they were at home. Game was rotten and the result a real blow to top six hopes. Healthy away support of 350 on a Wednesday night.

Yeah, this needs addressed. In the statement when they made the decision, they talked about this providing a safer environment but IMO, the opposite is very much true. Folk can take umbrage over giving them three stands but the very real concerns about the safety of the home support are something Kirsten Campbell, Steve Brown and the board NEED to take seriously. Is it not possible to direct all away supporters round the back of the North Stand? Would give the home support time to disperse, plus points many of the them in the direction of the bus park without having the cross the path of the home support. If trouble flares then the club can't say they haven't been warned as I'm sure they'll have had feedback on this.

We should be so lucky.

If we are moving it, why stop at Murrayfield? We played there a couple of years ago. I'd prefer the club showed real ambition that would attract global attention, so maybe Wembley or San Siro? Plenty flights from Edinburgh to London or Milan.

I do often wonder how good the past 7 years could have been for Saints if we'd had a decent manager.

Kennedy's problem is he tries too hard at times. You saw it in injury time when he takes on that shot rather than looking for a pass. He wants to take on responsibility. He can look jaded late in some games as he runs out of steam but that's different from not being interested.

I disagree, although not sure how things would have panned out over the next few years. He steadied the ship at the end of that window by making some proper signings in Irvine, Quinn and Deuchar and by giving Andy Jackson a chance. After failing to win in our first 7 games, we went 7 wins, 3 draws, 1 defeat in the 11 games before he left for Burnley. What you are seeing now with Coyle is he's a yesterday's man, he hasn't moved with the times and 4-4-2 with cakes on a Friday isn't modern management.

A recent midfield pairing of Paul Paton and David Robertson would come into my thoughts. Add in John Henry and it's the stuff of nightmares.

Unnecessarily dismissive and @Linky showed great restraint in his reply BUT have to say, I do totally disagree with the original post, especially about Kane and Ralston. We should be looking to improve on Kane but not simply by replacing a would-be third or fourth choice striker with another player, who my bet wouldn't offer the same value. His performances this year in tough away games where he's tasked with leading the line show what he can bring to the squad. I think Ralston is a liability as well. He should have been red carded in the first 10 minutes on Saturday and it's not the first time he's needlessly tried to smash into an opponent, although it was the worst instance of it. I also think his positioning is suspect and his decision making at both ends of the pitch is poor. Maybe it's a lack of experience.

I thought Liam Craig gave a masterclass in the role at Rugby Park, not sure he made a tackle the whole match but was always in the right position to make an interception or pick up a loose ball. His experience really told and at this stage of his career, it's a job that really suits him. McCann is better than being restricted to that area of the pitch though. I think it'll be disappointing if we see him back there long-term, although not sure how TW fits the three that played on Saturday in otherwise.

I actually thought Saturday was possibly his quietest game since breaking into the team. There wasn't much football being played and he was tasked with the holding role, where I think you lose a bit from him. Can barely remember him getting his foot on the ball. That's not a huge criticism but if the manager, as he's stated, is still trying to establish the best role for him, I think it's further forward. But then he's probably more suited to playing deeper than Davidson or Holt. Having four decent options in the centre of the park - add in Liam Craig - is no bad thing and the as much as you want to see McCann progress, the team doing so must always come first.

What is clear is that Saints have trouble getting deals over the line. Missing out on Polworth and Gallagher and the saga of signing Stevie May highlight that. That is recruitment though, not player identification, over which there appears a lot of assumption going on.

I think the footballing budget is a separate issue to your original point. With a turnover of £4-5 million, we aren't in a situation where we are lucky to survive. As I said, I accept the realities of trying to put a competitive team on the park will be hard but you suggested it's hard to put eleven players on the pitch at all. That's what I disagree with. The use of the playing budget has been poor for a while. Part of that is the manager but the whole structure at Saints needs an overhaul. I wouldn't expect the chairman to go massively over budget at any point but what structure is in place to help what is essentially one man (Tommy Wright) manage his budget effectively?

We are in a five team section and are sitting third and we didn't finish bottom of our (five) team Befred Cup group. Other than that, great post.

Sounds like the chairman did a job on you anyway. The club is a business with a turnover of £4 million to £5 million when in the Premiership, not some two bit used bookshop on Crieff High Street that gets seven visitors a month. Of course it's a tough environment but this lucky to survive attitude does nobody any favours.

This is obviously accurate but who'd have guessed that folk moaning about those things would just find something else to moan about when the time came? Shocker.

There is merit in the thinking that Hibs caught us by surprise with the two strikers and the shackles removed (interim management team really had nothing to lose) but the key factor remains what happened in the second minute. It's just dreadful from Kerr. Doidge displaying the sort of finishing he's been producing all season with the initial effort but gets an open goal from the rebound and never looked back. The importance of confidence in football. I would change the goalkeeper. What was noticeable in pre-season was how vocal Parish was and a new voice could help the defence. I remember TW swapping Mannus and Clark a couple of seasons ago for that reason. Parish probably isn't a world-beater but Clark has had a really poor season, something the stats back up.

Thanks for posting that. I think it could have stayed in Saints Chat as it's very relevant to us currently. I think it possibly explains why there isn't the mass panic that you'd generally associate with a team without a win. Our play certainly looks like it's merited a lot more.

I see Jeanfield have at least two buses running to Coldstream. They could carry a bigger away support than we will to some games this season!

I just don't want to hear any sort of justification of a 7-0 defeat. I disagree that Celtic would have handed out a similar beating to several other clubs. Of course they played well but we were atrocious and that should be pointed out. In fact, I think all the players that started disgraced themselves and should be embarrassed this morning. Not once, not twice but three times we let Christie have a free pop at goal and Griffiths' strike was the same. That is criminal. We didn't lay a glove on them unless it was a sly kick or elbow. We stood off them all day. So, so poor and folk should be venting their anger.

Very fair point and that is a whole new argument, a discussion I was having on the way home yesterday. Can anyone come up with a single name that would justify us sacking our most successful ever manager? Other than Barry Ferguson, obviously.
