  1. Just noticed the best odds for div 1 are as follows

    Hamilton 11/4

    Dunfermline 3/1

    Dundee 7/2

    St Johnstone 4/1

These are with various bookies and just shows to me anyhow how tight this league could be.I cant argue with the odds and couldn,t feel to confident backing any of the 4 teams.Any thoughts

I think that they just have the odds the wrong way round.:P

  2. slightly off topic but....

if anybody going on saturday gets a pie/burger etc at hampden (and can remember) from somebody in a nice black jumper or t-shirt with Oriongroup or orionjobs.com can you let me know...it's a sponsorship thing I have set up with the catering company and want to see if we are getting the exposure we paid for.

I will be eating a pie or burger on Saturday [probably my meal for the day]but can't guarantee I will remember:roll: . However I will try.

  3. Above Goram yes, Leighton no. Think it's fair to say though that Gordon is already on a par withthese keepers at a young age, and will be better fairly soon.

As for the Frence their arguements make no sense. To be beaten once can be called a fluke, twice- no mistake.

France fell for the same trick twice. It's like watching a boxing match. One boy does all the work, the other covers up and then lets go of a big shot, putting him on his a#!* More fool them, they didnt create many chances at all considering the amount of possesion they had.

I agree with you on the game above but would say that Gordon is already a more influential keeper than Goran or Leighton. Main should have been capped but was never better than Goram and only better than Leighton in his later more erratic years.

I wish I had been there last night. Judging by wee brothers texts which made no sense from Paris at about 4 am this morning he and his mates enjoyed themselves too. Sadly I only saw Scotland in Paris the once in 1989 when they lost 3-0 but it was still a great outing.

  4. By pure luck through injuries etc McLaren stumbled on a balnced side that look fairly well organised. Hopefully he will forget and bring back Lampard, Beckham, Rooney etc. when fit.:D

Old Sven never did realise that balance, organistion and team spirit all improve the teams chances.

  5. I'm guessing a fair few of us are sitting in the french end. I've never sat in the away end at a Scotland game, any chance of getting in wearing a kilt? Have heard of a fair few who are going to attempt it, i am quite sceptical about thier chances though, obviously don't want to miss the game.

You should be ok. There are still some tickets left for the French parts of the ground and they say they are happy to sell them to Scots supporters.:)

You can maybe check it out in advance though.

  6. There is a difference between showing frustration at bad play which I think we all do at times and persistent barracking of a player, sometimes without justification. This seems to be happening a bit with Lawrie who I think took some over the top crticism yesterday from some near me. One eejit shouted "that was your fault Lawrie" on one occasion when the ball was on the left and a long pass was misplaced. As far as I could see Lawrie was up with play and was in space on the right at the time and could not have influenced the mistake in anyway. [His defensive positioning needs some work though].

So by all means show frustration as paying spectators but don't go over the top and effect the players confidence which may already be low. Hopefully our manager should know what is happening and as with McInnes yesterday sub the players as long as there is an alternative.

  7. 1. Rangers. Bigots/glory hunting supporters whose main interest is a battle 300 years ago won by a Dutch poof. Want to clebrate goals by paddling in blood. They should try a bath.

    2. Celtic. Glory hunting/plastic paddies with a chip on theirs shoulders who also sing about things from another country long ago. How can they be the most popular fans in the world when they are the second most unpopular in their own country? [sCOTLAND for those who don't know for sure]

3.Aberdeen. Living in the past when Ferguson had them kicking everyone and pressurising the refs into giving them everything. Never liked their casuals either.

    4. Dundee Utd. See Aberdeen except McLean was the manager.

    5. Airdrie. Glad we thumped them 3-1 back then and kept fat round Jimmy Bone out of the premier.

    6. St Mirren. Not the real Saints. Bit full of themselves having got up to the premier.

    7. England. Come to think of it should maybe be number one.

    8. Dundee. Because I am expected to hate them and they are our real rivals despite what they say.

Cant think of 9 or 10.

I am surprisaed some people only have one member of the OF in their lists. Surely both lots are glory hunters who are keeping potential local supporters from following their local team? i.e. Saints.

  8. Notice Mensing was an unused sub for Well today, maybe if it continues it could be a quick return.

I think that today showed how much we miss Mensing. Midfield was a problem today as many have pointed out with Mcinnes looking past it. Why was Hardie pushed wide and Sheerin in the middle where he did not impress?Lawrie is not a defender and should go but he took some stick from some near me even when he had nothing to do with the pish play. McLuskey's energy when he came on impressed and I thought that Jacko looked as if he maybe deserves a chance. Hopefully he can get a goal to increase his confidence.

Perhaps next week we should give the youngsters a chance. I for one don't think Dundee will be that good and a bit of pace could find them out.

  9. there was a game at muirton against cowden or east fife and there was no away fans so the pack/choir split in half and had a go at half time

I have been chased along Dunkeld Road by the 'Pack' while wearing my Saints scarf just because I was an out of Towner on a quiet day with no away supporters about. Some guys I knew did not go back for a couple of seasons thus costing Saints money at the time.

Bad days also included 7-0 at Tannadump as I worked in Dungdee at the time and losing at Dens way back just before being relegated. If we had won well and other results gone to plan we could have stayed uo I think. Can't remember which season that was.

  10. Hate to agree, but the man's right! St Mirren were much better than us that season, and they hit the goals that they set last season.

What I will say is though, no matter of what league we are in, IMHO Saints are now a better team than St Mirren, and if we were to play in the cup next season I'm sure we will see that.

Like St Mirren, St Johnstone have taken a few years to build a strong teama up, but the future for us looks alot better.

It's just a pity that there was not a play off between second top and second bottom respectively. I think that would have proved who was the stronger team last season and they would not have come from Paisley.

  11. How can one player [Dobbie] have so many different views by Saints fans of his ability?

In our car two think that he was a waste at Saints and found his true level on loan at Dunbarton playing against part time defenders. One thought he was the most skilful player at Saints and a good finisher but needed a kick up the backside and one [mostly pished] thought the sun shone oot of his erse.

I have to admit I was one of the former two and would not welcome him back.

  12. Can't say I am all that bothered. I reckon he would be a better SPL player than a 1st Division player. His performances in the cup games when he had more time on the ball showed that. In the 1st division however the players are younger and faster and I can't help but feel Sheerin is going the other way and slowing down.

There is no doubt about his talent - he's a very good player but I just get the feeling this league isn't suiting him that well anymore.

He had a pretty good early Season against the 1st Division Teams though he faded away in Mid-Season [Winter]. Maybe he just likes the better weather and pitches.

  13. I think that Jacko has some way to go to either replace Jason or be cover for Savo and Peaso. Perhaps an extended run or scoring a goal might give him the confidence needed? However we do still urgently need more cover up front.

  14. I think that the main worry will be Dunfermline. We have talked up our cup run but theirs is equally impressive.

Q.O.S. will cause a lot of teams problems based on their finish this year but won't challenge us. Don't think Dundee will improve very much and I don't think we should worry about any of the others.

So lets get ahead of Dunfy early and stay there.

  15. You think the amount of cost cutting will cripple them, then there is europe small squad fixture pile up, brilliant best result saints could have hoped for, plus thinkof the crowds we'll take there and to Stirling.

They (Dunfermline) will be widely touted as favourites to coast the division but so were we, Dundee, Livi, Partick, and so the list could go on.

I don't think that they will be in Europe long. They may well however use their Manager's knowledge to pick up some decent Irish players though. Look what Derry did to Gretna and others last year in Europe.

Better place to visit than Airdrie etc so should be a good atmosphere.

  16. Dobbie was not good! still isnt!!! ye he didnt really get a chance but that was probably down to his lazy attitude! he had the ability, just not the work rate or desire that you need to be a great player.

I am not even convinced he had the ability. He certainly did not have the concentration or desire.

As for Jase it looks likely that he will go. Don't think Nathan is the answer though I liked his attitude last time round.

  17. Stirling are closer and I think would be easier to beat than Airdrie have been this Season. However they may be easier for everybody else to beat too.

My memories of games in the past against Stirling are all wins though I do tend to forget bad results more easily.
