I don't dispute that's a high wage but I dispute that they don't earn it. I personally wouldn't want to spend 2 hours of my working life being hounded and insulted by grown men with anger issues and if I was going to I'd want a high wage for it. It's nice for us to be able to sit in a football stand and shout abuse at someone trying to do their job, different story when you are on the recieving end.

Perhaps you should temporarily employ someone to follow you around at your workplace berating you for every mistake you make, many of them subjective, and see if it makes up for a higher pay packet.

I'm not sure it's quite as easy as walking into a match and refereeing for £1000 a game. I went to school with a guy called Gavin Harris and he had set his sights on being a referee from the age of 16, used to sit next to him in English class and he'd speak about the weekend training he had to go through and so on, he started doing 2nd assistant duties around 5 years ago and occasionally i'll see he is the linesman or fourth official and that's after 13 years of training and studying to get the qualifications required. Never seen him as the match referee yet and that's after around 200 professional games as the assistant.

Not as easy a job as some think and it irritates me when people think so.

It was with great sadness that I learned today of the passing of my fellow Saints Fan and Veteran Season Ticket Holder.

Knowing Hamish only by his first name I sat beside him for the last 10 years in the main stand - sharing the joys and sorrows of following St Johnstone FC. Unassuming and passionate about his club and speaking in a thick Highland accent I mistakenly assumed he travelled down from Inverness or Aviemore or some other such outpost. It was only after speaking to Graham Buchan in the Muirton Suite today that I discovered he travelled down from Dunnet in Caithness - a staggering 500 mile round trip taking in excess of ten hours by bus with a stop over in Perth to follow Saints.

I was completely unaware I had been sharing my match days with one of the clubs most remarkable and committed supporters. I will miss him greatly and will raise a glass for him tonight.  Row T Seat 52 will remain empty for the remainder of the Season - I doubt very much it will ever be filled by such a remarkable fan.

    RIP Hamish and God Bless.

I thought we'd pretty much established that 90% of the bridges that were burned were because Lomas was a prick (allegedly - other opinions are available) and lied to him.  In addition, he already apologised to fans for any comments made.

    I just don't believe he's good enough.

I have watched many a great game of football played on uneven, patchy, muddy pitches.

Every game played on astro feels like a friendly. I would HATE for McD to be an artificial surface.

Before the home game v Caley I said I'd be delighted with 5pts from the next 4 games. However, after 6 out of 6 so far we have to say let's go for the win. If we did it would throw us right into the fight up the top. Show faith!! Why not?

Take your point, although hopefully we will see a few of them in court pleading not guilty. We might then hear at least some of it. Thing is, if even some of the management, owners and fans had, from the beginning, done a hearts and held their hands up, and if even some of them showed some iota of a beginning to dropping the 1690 crap, a lot of us might even be sympathetic to the plight of a club repeatedly fleeced by city types. But they didn't and haven't so they can boil in hell as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think he was lazy when not in possession yesterday, just that he doesn't have the legs to chase like others. It means we have to have 4 midfielders working extra hard behind him. He was the difference between the two teams yesterday and nearly everything creative was thru him. It also takes a bit of pressure off guys like O'halloran who is looking far more confident, and hopefully Spoony when he comes back in.

The big thing for me is Tommy has to be astute when to play him, when to sub him if he's not performing well etc, rather than playing him whole matches hoping something might happen when he's not on it.

The kind of player you don't mind paying to see, the reason you watch football in the first place.

For many years now I have hated Hearts ( not entirely without reason by the way ) on almost equal terms with Scumdee and the old squirm. But in the last couple of seasons I have actually started to quite like them and think they deserve enormous credit for what they have done this season and last, I just hope and prey they give The The (yes I have no qualms about using  playground names here and was more than happy to be singing youre not rangers anymore at aye broke a couple of weeks ago) an absolute tanking on Saturday I would absolutely love for the the to not be promoted this season.

    I've given up being polite:
    Lappin is naff
    Croft is fat
    McDonald is useless
Bringing on Caddis as a game changer when McFadden is on the bench too? That's incompetence.
We didn't test the ginger goalie.........
O'halloran is not a goal scorer......
Graham will score but not with the ammunition he's getting.
I thought Midge played well though.

Another couple of rank performances and we may be in the express elevator down.
May should not have been allowed to leave.....without a ready found replacement. That's incompetence too.

    I'm fair scunnered........

I will keep this simple. Mon tae fuck Saints. Get yer sleeves rolled up, hold yer heads high, work like Trojans, fight for every ball, work  your asses off when they have the ball. Close down, hassle, harrie and start believing. Show a pair.. Fuck pointless possession in the middle of the park, drive forward, run at the opposition and start showing you give a fuck because if  it looks like you don't give a fuck the fans  might as well piss off hame. Yes we won the cup, that was brilliant, but forget it AND START PLAYING FITBA AGAIN..

Even  if you don't actually win, at least you will have given it a good go.. That's all I am asking for.

Last night's commentators on Hamilton v Aberdeen were saying that if a team plays apressing game, and few do nowadays, then the whole team must be involved. 1 or 2 not working ruins the whole system and renders it innefective. They went on to say how good Hamilton were at doing that. It reminded me that we used to play a high energy, high temp pressing game, and that it brought results on the whole.
I'm not sure what type of game we're playing now, but it isn't high energy and pressing, for sure.
We aren't good enough to stroke the ball about, we have to work, and work hard.
Injuries and loss of form, together with the playing budget restrictions aren't helping.
And Hamilton are playing with a team comprised largely of young players.

It's been mentioned before when this topic has come up previously, but it needs mentioning again:

The club must get ticket sales online, with mailshots through email and other social media.
Potential supporters need an enthusiastic prod to buy tickets in advance, perhaps an email saying "Buy tickets now for the game in two weeks time (or whatever) and get a £2 discount or a free Bovril or buy a second ticket half price, or something.  Incentives can be adjusted according to the opposition and expected levels of interest.

If you wait for some supporters to get up of their @rses on the day, they may not come, particularly if its raining, or the grass needs cutting, or there is a severe attack of "What the hell - can't be bothered getting off the settee".  If the tickets are already bought, the date is planned for, and they turn up.

I'm sure there are Saints minded people out there who can put some effort into getting a system operational to keep the costs down.

Thinking about attendance. Normally, you'd expect the demand for seats to be negatively correlated with the ticket price; that is to say, the lower the price, the more folk would attend.  So, if for example you sell three times as many seats for half the price, you make 50% more money.

However I think that while lowering the price would attract a few "fair weather" supporters back, I think there is a limited pool of people who are interested in Saints and probably the "elastic demand" approach would only take you so far.

I think reaching out to new supporters to increase the pool of interest, together with revisiting pricing, would help. If you look at how EasyJet do it, if you buy your ticket early you get a really good price. If you buy it the week before, it's expensive, if you buy it at the last minute, it's very expensive. We could offer tickets for advance purchase so that price sensitive people could be attracted back. Then, if they attend enough times, give them a discounted season ticket the next year. Combine these sorts of initiatives with some Marketing and outreach beyond the usual channels we might see some improvement.

Time to put this bad run behind us and put in a confident and effective performance against a Killie team that are doing well this season but who we have already beaten.

I think it's fairly obvious who needs to be rested / dropped and the team that played the 2nd half against The Fakes should be starting this match.

Faddy will be more integrated and barring any injuries I would hope to see the following starting 11.

                                                       Mannus

                                       Miller Mackay Ando Easton

                                      Croft Millar Davidson Lappin

                                                     McFadden

                                                      Graham

I'm sure Tommy can see this has to be the way to go and hopefully Crofty can show he has a full 90mins in him.

After hearing the reports from the guys who were at the game it would appear the problem yesterday was similar to the week before that there looked no creativity from anywhere in the team, that would suggest if we can not create any chances then we do need a striker to put them away, We need to look at getting crosses in to the penalty box, run at defenders into the box, and generally create goal scoring chances that is down to not a striker as much as Midfield , wide players, over lapping full backs everything other than what a striker is relied upon to do, Brian Grahame has played 2.25 games and scored two goals, he has had maybe 5-10 decent balls played into him and scored two out of that. We need to get the creativity into the team before we can score goals IMOP.  So no point in wasting money on forward if we can not supply them with any ammunition.

The people of Scotland now need to unite regardless of political persuasion to ensure that the extra powers promissed are actually delivered in a way that best serves the needs of the people of Scotland
