I find it a strange team after CD stating we are going for Europe, If that is the case why rest players? If we must rest players do it against the OF

Don't you think he has been working hard and taking his opportunity? I haven't seen any signs of that not being the case. I don't think it's about workrate, I think it's about the style of player he is. A successful squad needs different types of striker and as far as I can tell Melamed simply isn't the type of striker that CD thinks will work in his preferred formation.
I don't think throwing strops comes into it. It just makes sense that if he's not going to get picked in our big games, and another club comes in that is going to offer him more money and a chance to play more regularly, it would probably be the right decision for him to make that move.
Anyway, however we choose to view it, a player like Melamed is probably going to attract interest from all over Scotland, England and beyond, and if Saints can't get him tied down quickly it's going to be difficult to hold onto him.

I think it's pretty clear why Melamed doesn't start every game: CD doesn't think he can play as the single striker in a 3-4-3, which remains his preferred formation. Why would Melamed sign a new contract with us when he basically knows now that whatever he does, however many goals he scores, when it comes to our very biggest games he's not going to get on the pitch?
Right now he could easily move to one of our rivals for nothing and become an absolute star for them.

£300,000 prize for winning, pre and post merchandise sales will be fantastic, chunk of prize money quite rightly will go to team and management but winning will mean huge unbudgeted Bertie bonus, todays amazing win will be fantastic for the stability of the club going forward.

Dominated that.....scoreline didn't help the nerves though.
Melamed missing was disappointing but Davidson got it right....perhaps he figured Livi would be too physical for him. Not for me to argue, we won.
Rooney's stock must be growing. Solid defensively, effective going forward and our first aerial threat in the box for what seems like decades. What a turn around for him....dropped to the bench then got his place and took it. Not sure of Scotland calls are a bit premature but we'll struggle to hang on to him if he carries on with this form.
Dare I say that Macnamara's recall was the best bit of transfer business for us? Loved Danny but Rooney seems more of a threat overall.

It must be the new tactic for big games. Play crap in in the first half hour then score against the run of play and come out second half all guns blazing. Just need a second now.

I've been to all the Semi-Finals Saints have been in including 2 Challenge Cup ties bar 1969
Mostly disappointed has been on the menu
The 3.0 defeat from Motherwell was horrible  but for me the worst day was the 4.0 humping from Aberdeen in a cold horrible day in Edinburgh
The 2.1 defeat from Dundee Utd at East end was a let down and my memories of Semi-Finals are in general not happy occasions
Despite that I have good vibes for Saturday as we are in decent form and along with Melhemed and Kane starting to look like a partnership .Its extremely frustrating that this will be the first  tie I will not be at(Deemed to young for 69by my parents) I personally can't see  why they couldn't have put the Semi Final and final back until the spring, but it is what it is and I'll be cheering the team on from my arm chair .Like others have said its hard to get excited about this due to the normal build up .
