  1. 'Watched a pretty decent Documentary on CBC. It was well-made and current. It reveals two men who were exploited shamefully by their community's and management teams. For my money, when you listen to Frazier speak and shuffle around he didn't look or sound tha much better than Ali. It's worth watching. cbc.ca. The programme is The Passionate Eye,, the doc is "Thriller in Manilla. Smudge
  2. Scotland On Sunday gave a reasonably objective game report this morning. Smudge
  3. I watched the gemme through a link posted here,. Thanks. The game I watched was not the one the commentators called. Don't you love journalistic objectivity? Anuses. Every pint drunk by a Saintee tonight will be well deserved. Smudge

  5. I have no brief against the recreational use of cannabis. My drug of choice is IPA. There should never be a 'moral ' judgement about things like this. As the Mink says, there are communities up his way where whole communities are devastated with deaths attributed to 'substance abuse'. I'm horrified, but I suspect that the the 'substance' is not cannabis. More likely is glue-bagging and gasoline 'weezing'. At some point, an already badly damaged child, wanting to meet the Creator, says, "Feck it, why wait? Let's go meet the Man." I have met very few users of cannabis who actually top themselves. Simply because they giggle too much, and the trips to the 'fridge keep them occupied and vigorously exercising. It is true that many very twisted people are involved in the trade. No Argy-Bargy there. Afghanistan is governed by the Poppy, no matter what disclaimers Obama and Karzai issue. They are politicians, ergo, they are liars. Many, many states derive billions of moolah from the sale of cannabis, (cf British Columbia who, in this Great White North, has the weird notion that they can ban needle exchanges, but they can also derive the enormous benefits from the growth of Chiba). How? Simply because of the economic benefits. Grow ops in Lotus Land generate more income than forestry or fishing. Yet the Man, in public, must excoriate the trade while thanking Griff that 40, 000 people of his riding are working. They contribute nothing to the tax rolls, but they spend billions of dollars on tattie crisps and beer. It's a funny little incestuous circle. Do I want every tenement in my former Principality to have a back-green? Do I want them to grow a few plants of green? Abso-feckin'-lutely, if it will help to alleviate the soul destroying pain of beatings, rape, mother-humping, Granny-beating and general devastation that seems to follow from a nip and a pint and coupla bottles of V.P. on the kerry-oot. I'm not going to "occupy The Glennie" about this issue, but seem to have stronger feelings about this than I had first intended. Cheers to Charles Wells IPA, because not once during this long and probably tedious post did I have to raid the pantry, giggle or say to myself, 'Now where was I going with that story?" Smudge
  6. Your reference to female genitalia is a bit unfortunate, but understandable. As I was taught, "It takes one to know one" Have a gin and tonique. It will come right. Miraqules do happen. Smudge
  7. Brief is good, hoose. Thank you. Smudge
  8. ...and Smudge says, "wisdom from a wanquer? " How rare is that? I've been preaching that philosophy for all of my life. So there, we meet. We depart, however....nowhere, I thinque. Risque, like incest, is relative. Once in a while, you put the old goolies on the line. But only if the worst possible consequenque is less than biological extinctquion. There ARE people in this world who are not toxique, hard as it is to taque that on board. So, me old mate, have a good sleep. Tell every one that you know to be quareful. Then ****que off. Or stay. Either way, I'm good. Smudge (quatious to a ridiquelous degree. [PHD in paranoia.]
  9. But it was the truth, John. Who was the comedian or politician (same thing, for me) whose line was "You never had it so good'? Back in the day. You'll never hear me say, but I'm thinking it more and more. GTF with including me in the Emeritus class with all you old farts. Smudge P.S Back at that day, When Gary Panton was MY go-to guy,for Saints' news, he had categories going from boot boy to superstar for Blue Heaven subscribers. That could be introduced again in a slightly different way to show an age demographic. If you think I am believing your age as you state it? C'mon man. Were fecking Minks and we lie about everything! S
  10. Where might I find highlights of the game?
  11. I would make a few changes: Would add Charlie McFadean to the back line, and I could not imagine a Saint Johnstone all-time team without Bobby Kemp and Johnny Liddel somewhere on the team. Ron McKinven would make my team. I have not seen many of the players you mention, so I could not argue agaist them. Heck, when I was an attending heid-the-ba' at Muirton, one did not have to worry about a subs bench. No substitutions allowed. Some wit will remind me,, "Aye, Smudge, but the ba' wis a Dundonian skull at that day", just refer that person or persons to The Eskimo Mink. He'll sort them out!
  12. A revival of an old, and very innocent greeting, as in "wotcher cock". Cockney. Anyway, I watched the first half of the game yesterday and wanted to jab needles in my eyes. That tippy-tappy crap Spain plays is excrutiating to watch. That is a trend and it deserves to die a quick death. Possession of the ball is all very well, but my, my, for the love of Griff, that game was so slow I just mowed my front yard. If I'm gonna watch grass grow, it'll be my own! Smudge
  13. You probably posted twice, 'ya cheatin' ould sod! Prince P.S. I did, they tell me.
  14. It's in somebody's neck, Andy. I am, Griff be praised, many miles away from Brampton. Their loss. Smudge (who usually signs his name in inque. Ran out so I guess I stinque. Oh, well, I'll drinque from my wee sinque, and listen to music from The Big Pinque.
  15. What a cynical wee thing you are. 'Trouble is, you may be right. If I don't get my way, I may get yours. Great post. hope everything will go well with your gastric band. Smudge
  16. Yesterday was my first day with these new eyes. Obviously, they are not at speed yet. However, the offer for the 'Leafs sweater is on the table. I know that footballs don't come in BFB-size. What do you think I am:? A numpty; an eejit; drunk?; an Aberdonian'?, or one who just wonders if certain people doon the river will ever form a deep and lasting relationship with soap? Take your pick. However, if you choose any pick, I'll send the troops. Wink (or for Andy, Winque) Smudge
  17. Get it in size FOB (fat old barsteward) and I'll gie the laddie a good price if it signed by a Saint who is Scots, Perthian and can write his name. Serious offer. Smudge I have a Toronto Maple Leaf jersey that could be worked into the deal.
  18. Ten to fifteen years? Even today, I don't buy green bananas. However, I have faith that teams of Scotland who have survived for about 155 years, give or take, will continue to do so. There will be speed-bumps along the way but the core will stay. Saints and Saintees will probablly be bitching about a decrepit McD. O.F? Who cares. EPL will still be the best, most competitive and most loved League in the world. Why? Because man, they can play. Scotland and England will continue to suffer internationally because of their reluctance or inability to develop their own players. People will stop paying big money to watch idiots and their goal celebrations, but don't get me started on that one. Lastly, I intend to be around to see it all. But I still won't be buying greed bananas, just in case. Smudge
  19. John You have shown me that you truly are one of us. The first words we learn are not 'dada' or mummum'. We learn to say....! Perfect, E.M. Smudge
  20. Kilgour, you are right,, I did do him down It was not intenional. What I had meant to say was that he was an above average fighter in a below average era. On reveiwing my post I note that that's not what I wrote. In my defence, yesterday was my first with this new brain and it's only rented. I can't agree with you on Joe and Muhammad. That could go to another conversation. Smudge
  21. I'm a bit foggy myself this evening. Joe Frazier is away. Joe was a below-average fighter who was known for his courage rather than his talent, but I am sad at his passing. RIP, Joe. You defined guts. Smudge
  22. Neutral I would hope that the 'gereral apathy' of which you speak would change a little and give the people of Perth a reason to get behind a man who has brought nothing but good things to the town. The people on this forum are a good start to that effort and have given great suggestions that, hopefully, will spread through the town. If not? Well some good people have given their support to Geoff and, in the end, if it doesn't work out, they tried. One cannot do more than give one's best. Smudge
