  1. Same level of dourness that would come with being a Rangers supporter I guess.... oh....
  2. I think the squad now, compared to the squad in December, is substantially stronger and more balanced, and the club deserve huge credit for delivering that while adrift at the foot of the table. I think every player who has come in has spoken about the vision and enthusiasm of the manager and the sense of optimism around the whole club. The turnaround in how we clearly present ourself to potential players in the last few months has been staggering. I think we've every chance of recovering this season. As others have said, we maybe missed out on one or two big signings, but I think every other club in below the top 2 had a pretty underwhelming transfer window.
  3. Doesn't sending your captain out on loan also seem a bit unusual? I suppose Cameron being captain at Saints was also weird, but then that was a Craig Levein call, which provides something of an explanation for the weird.
  4. The standout thing for me has been the continuous improvement week after week. Less basic errors, not repeating the same mistakes again - and that applies tactically as well as individually I think, Simo seems quick to admit an error and just get on and fix it. I don't think anyone doubted that results would start to come. The St Mirren response of blaming VAR is just the polar opposite, and bog standard for Scottish football. Reminds me of Levein really. It's really refreshing to feel such a degree of honesty and willingness to graft across the whole team.
  5. Said he looks more like Andy Dufresne by the day. Baffled. I guess it was the hat 🤷
  6. Imagine if we didn't have Sprangler just now. Incredible to think that Levein didn't rate him.
  7. This window compared to recent ones has been night and day. I'm used to us signing half a dozen 36 year olds on 4 year deals with ACL injuries, an announcement that McRacist has extended his deal until 2047, and then being told there's no money left. Since Simo has been here we've signed 4 players that look genuine quality, one who can do ok if needed, and narrowly missed out on Eremenko for reasons outwith our control. Playing Sprangler feels like a new signing really, because I'm sure if Levein had stayed he'd have got fed up by now and be away. Whether it's enough to bridge the gap to 10th or 11th place remains to be seen, but bearing in mind the last 5 games are against the bottom 5 opponents, I don't feel like it's impossible. I do wonder if Eremenko might have been that trump card that we've been denied though. I hope not. Whatever happens, we are worth watching now, and it was tedious and miserable watching Levein's team.
  8. Probably hoping for it to get well trampled in before the starlings eat it all.
  9. Scott Bright scores a belter for Brechin and Levein immediately blurts out the pathetic 'he'll never score another goal like it in his career" cliche. What a brutally negative attitude the guy has.
  10. Subject to work permit,so might be available to play in June.
  11. The difference for me is that he clearly understands why we are losing games, I never got that impression from our last few managers, they just kept signing more and more useless players. He has a genuine plan of how he wants us to play and I believe he will recruit the players to deliver it. Certainly better than Davidson building his whole style and approach around the strengths of Jason Kerr and Ali McCann after they'd left, for two more seasons, by signing OAPs on multiple year contracts! Also, we survived last season almost solely because of Mitov's quality. If we had a really good keeper this season then we'd have significantly more points on the board. I still think that with some financial backing to bring players in, Simo will bring us more success. Immediate problem for me is that the January window is not an ideal opportunity to rebuild a squad. I fear we may be doomed this season regardless.
  12. Previous weeks we've played some quality stuff and results haven't quite gone our way, but it looked like a matter of time until they started to. Today we were shite. Worrying.
  13. What a difference in intensity and desire across the park. Brilliant to hear Clark saying in his interview about enjoying playing. That simple change in mentality is huge. Doesn't matter what job you do, if you enjoy it you do it better. Football under Levein never looked enjoyable. Not felt this enthused about Saints for a long time.
  14. This game feels like as much of a free hit as its possible to get in the league. New boss in the stand, not directly responsible for the result, Kirk and Cleland as well as the players with little to lose and much to gain. I would argue there's the most to be gained all round by setting up as a 4-3-3 and giving the instruction to show Simo what you've got.
