  1. Like I said earlier, please correct me if I'm wrong. As the league cup is clearly subordinate to the Scottish Cup, This is probably right.
  2. I sincerely hope so, but given rangers obvious emphasis on the league and UEFA cup in recent news reports, and the fact that the semi is a few days after the Sporting game, who knows how much of a reserve team they will put out tonight. Be serious, they're not Arsenal. Rangers reserves could struggle against Fartic. 20/1 are awesome odds, I'm not a betting man but fancy a tenner on that!!
  3. I'm sorry to be devil's advocate here, but the beeb have been very careful not to mention hampden as the venue for the semi's. In fact, one report clearly says venue tbc. If fartick beat the gers reserves tonight, I cannot see any way they will play the semi's at Hampden. QOSvAberdeen would attract maybe 20000 tops, and SaintsvFartick would be nearer 10-15000 at a push. How could the SFA justify using Hampden. It would surely be like last years league cup and played at Tynecastle/Easter Road? Have I missed something that confirms the contrary??
  4. The fact that gretna will not be missed is so true. Other clubs that have demised have at least had a die hard support who would have felt badly at the time. I wonder how many folk will actually care in 6 months time, except the Motherwell fans who still have the headache of a crap pitch and a club owed money for the ground share. This whole thing has made a mockery of Scottish football, and honest clubs and supporters. Forget the bitterness of last season's end. Good riddance to gretna anyway!
  5. I was just away to say the same thing. Leagues a gonner, but at least we can look forward to thrashing Gretna four times next year on their way to the second division, and we have a good chance of a cup semi final, or more!
  6. Rather loan deals than struggling for a team. Face it, we were hardly going to attract the best players considering out league position in January. If we get promoted, it'll obviously be a different story. In my view, the damage was done by not bringing in enough quality in the summer, when we all knew that Jason was leaving, when there was still a general feeling that we were league favourites, and that SPL football would result for prospective players. Del hasn't had much choice but to get as many temporary and loan contracts as he can to give us the slim hope of promotion (Keep the faith..). Its making the best of a pretty bad situation in my book.
  7. I just mean that it is highly unlikely that we would pay stupid money in an unsustainable manner, not insinuating that that is currently Dundee's approach, but it has been in the past, hence the Canigia example. Quality player, drug abuse stories from his past, but still looking for crazy money to play lower flight football.
  8. Agree that the interview reflects well on his attitude, hope he proves to be an absolute star for us until the end of the season. It all seems more beleivable because its Saints. If he was going to Scumdee or Gretna, you'd expect that he'd actually be getting paid a mint to play (canigia for example), but we know he'd not come to Saints for money, so maybe he is just genuinely looking for a new start. Deserves the benefit of the doubt in my view.
  9. How far behind Gr£tna were we at this time last year? I know we had games in hand because of two good cup runs instead of one, but we lost them anyway! Still excitement to come this season?? Given how much QOS have improved, it kind of blows the league open a bit again as well, possibly, maybe, am I far too optomistic as usual?? Beat Scumdee QOS can still beat both Scumdee and Hamilton (Hamilton on Saturday) Scumdee can beat Hamilton, and a nice wee draw on the last day of the season between them! Game on...... I'm keeping the faith!
  10. Goran looked back to his best. I hate the way defenders shield the ball from attackers and let it run out of play. Surely that is obstruction, but it is always happened. I like the way he constantly takes the piss out of attackers by not doing that and beating them every time. Good to see a defender that can kick a ball less than 50 yards each time too!
  11. Think how much we watch with much smugness as teams like Dundee and gretna fall into financial ruin, knowing that we are probably the club least likely to have that happen to us. I think we have to accept that we have fewer fans than we used to, and that each year we will have a good shout at achieving promotion in a realistic financial manner. The good times, i.e. last years cup runs, nearly winning the league and this years challenge cup are all the more enjoyable knowing that we did it on sheer skill, talent and effort rather than signing a few stupid unsustainable cheques for the hell of it, and then suffering years of humiliation as a result. For me, if it means a few years in the SFL until we find some good young talent again and build a quality side again, so be it, I'll still be there supporting them. Good times will come again, by fair means rather than foul.
  12. Cuthbert. Main's kickjing is making the whole team suffer. If only we could get the Cat to bellow at the defence in a more Main type way, and we'd be laughing.
  13. I'm sure someone will remember better than me, as I was just a nipper, but did we not have an away game at Flakirk that was like 4-2, with at least 4 of the goals being OGs. Must be about 16 or 17 years ago or something.
  14. Every single season, wherever he plays. The only player with a NET GOALS column in his player stats.
  15. I was hoping that Hamilton's lack of depth would hurt them when suspensions and injuries began to take their toll as the season progresses. This might be a bit of a blow!
  16. Rocco looks a good prospect to me, better than Lawson was. He seems to have that extra time on the ball that quality midfielders have, and I agree with others that him and MMM could be a great midfield partnership. Doc is a quality striker, but IMO no better that Savo and Peaso, with Jackson getting better all the time. I have heard others say that the Docs influence on Jackson has brought him on a lot, and mayby that is valid. I don't know if it is justifiable to pay out what awkward Gretna will want for him as a back up to the preferred strike force. I'd like to see Roacco stay, and maybe get another midfielder in to replace DMc in January.
  17. OK draw, hopefully not a repeat of the Challenge Cup struggle. I like Dundee away to Huntly. Christie Park is never a fun place to be! I see an amusing banana skin there. Morton v Gretna is another classic.
  18. :D :D :D :D :D Much as I rate Rocco and Doc (not so much with Stewart and Daal:wink: ), Something makes me a bit uneasy when the teams good play is somewhat dependent on players on loan. I really hope we can employ them on a permanent basis (Rocco and Doc that is!), but in the mean time, I am excited to see two of our best young strikers for a while getting a few games to form a decent partnership. Good things to come in December!!
  19. The gap up to 4th is not very much. This could reflect very well on OC/Saints with 2 or 3 more wins on the spin, including the game in hand. 'Mon Burnley.
  20. 'mon burnley - winning away at Watford. Typical if OC suddenly has results!!
  21. she was poor second half right enough! She did have to put up with a fair bit of abuse tho'. S'pose she'd have expected that though after the penalty decision!
  22. Instill some of last season's self belief (here's hoping Sunday's performance and result will help on that front), and also some more fighting spirit. I think we'd have been 3 up on most teams after 30 mins on sunday. Now we need to build on that to last 90 minutes and not panic. Perhaps a change of character at the helm is all that is needed. McInnes' midfield abilities (maybe not so much recently perhaps) on the back of Coyle's attacking character might be a good combination to take this team to the next level. I'm waffling, but the ability to win games that we should be winning, instead of more bloody draws!
