St. Paddy reacted to R.B.B:- Adz in St.Johnstone V HIbernian - League Cup semi Final Saturday 23rd Jan
Conway passing is awful and keeps getting caught up the pitch leaving Muzz to cover double.
Conway is fine when he is running into plenty of space with the ball at his feet but as soon as another player comes near him he just kicks it at them or turns back and passes the responsibility on to somebody else. Usually Tanser or McCann. Other than that, total passenger.

St. Paddy reacted to Pat McGroin in Zander
I’ve given big Zander Clark a lot of stick lately but he commanded his area better than he has at any point over the last 12-18 months for me today.
That inspires confidence in the defence and it showed today.
Well done Zander.

And the reverse is, if our forwards stopped squandering double figure chances every game and our defenders stopped parting like the Dead Sea giving opposition players so many clear chances, how many more points would we have? It is a team game and constantly slaughtering individual players rather than getting behind them does the club no good whatsoever.

Craig should have closed down his man and prevented the ball into the box

St. Paddy got a reaction from mainstand in Zander
Im thinking thats unfair.
He has previously been a very good keeper for us, but in the last couple of years, for what ever reason (coaching? Lack of competition?) he has been distinctly average.
Last couple of games he has looked like the Zander of old, but tonight i cant fault him for either goal.
1st point blank shot thru a couple of bodies, 2nd a wonder goal that 9 outta 10 is over the roof of the stand.

Can we give melamed a chance before writing him off?
Hendry needs a loan to find his form
Other two can slip away.

A fluid 5 3 2
Ohalloran attacking up right, may and guy in the middle.
Back three with rooney and booth drifting forward.
Muzz n craig anchoring midfield
Wind with saints, 5 forward balls gone too long

St. Paddy reacted to Smarmy Arab in Saints v Dundee United 24/10/20 - Derby Day
Greetings Sainteez! I hope you’re all well and coping with all this Covid stuff.
Looking forward to Saturday, but feeling a bit gutted that I am not meeting a few mates before and after for a fixture I have not missed for many years!
As for the game, not an easy one to predict, after a reasonable start we have lost confidence and form, Saints appear to be going in the opposite direction, but not a lot between 7/8 teams in this division as the table shows.
I expect to see a Utd team sitting in and hitting on the break, Mellon appears to have little faith in several of the more experienced players in his squad, the key on Saturday will be not to lose, but a big 3 points up for grabs.

Agreed
You can only beat whats in front of you.
This wasnt the strongest 11 either.
A few missed chances, but played 90 mins at a decent tempo and kept intensity up.

Didnt deserve that at all today. Anyone who says 5 subs rule doesnt benefit certain teams is kidding themselves.

St. Paddy reacted to mike_gain in St Johnstone v Aberdeen 08/08/20
Am I the only one wondering why the players involved haven't been handed a lengthy ban?
Don't want to paint this with too much hyperbole but these player will have put people's health at risk for several days, not just Aberdeen FC staff but you can bet they don't keep 2m in the shops or sanitise regularly.
Had 8 players been caught betting they'd be in trouble, Considine put a player at risk, got a red card and has a ban.
But putting a whole community at risk, with an additional risk to spreading it beyond a community and a real chance of football being stopped again...with all that this would bring....surely that's at least equal in severity to putting a few bets on.
No way the game should be on tomorrow and while it inconveniences and probably disadvantages Saints that's just the way it is but these players can't just be getting off with a fine.
A message should be sent out to players and wider society that f**king about with this virus isn't an option. We all want a bit of normality but that is off the cards and lockdown isn't the easy fix when cases spike it causes people harm.
I'm probably overreacting due to being close to several impacts this virus has had but f**k sake, first weekend and it goes to sh*t!

St. Paddy reacted to Abernethy Saint in The big COVID-19 Shutdown
I think they will almost certainly look for the way out that will cause the least tantrums and legal action. That points to ending the season as it stands, and allowing promotion but no relegation. Celtic as champions. Whether the resulting league reconstruction is temporary, or the opportunity is taken to try something new on an on-going basis, will be up to the clubs. It would give us something to talk about, at least.
With no relegation, and with Celtic so far ahead, I can’t see Rangers* getting any support for an alternative proposal. They could try the courts, but they haven’t got any money, and would find that very difficult if UEFA raise no objections and most other leagues follow the same path.
I think they will wait as long as they can to make a decision, in the fervent hope that someone makes it for them.
On the wider COVID situation, it does seem that the UK Government strategy for a longer, shallower curve isn’t working. We are following an identical trajectory to Italy. That means a shorter, sharper curve. That means that, over the next week to ten days, UK death rates are going to rise to horrifying levels, possibly eventually towards a thousand a day. Parts of the NHS are going to break down, some old patients are going to effectively be chosen to die, and the UK government, one step behind as always, will then announce a full lockdown - either in a sequence of steps, or all at once. A near complete or complete lockdown by next week is a probability - maybe sooner if Johnstone finally decides to get ahead of this thing.
Guys, if you can, stay at home. Do the garden, watch Netflix, have a wank. Just don’t go out and kill someone’s maw. Or the nurse that might have saved your maw.

Some folk will shout me down for this but here goes
And it's not meant to be political, so don't take it they way
I work in a Cafe and my wife in Bar trade (Saints Club Stewardess)
So?? How can you tell pubs, Clubs, Cafes etc to stay open but tell everyone not to go to them?? Bonkers beyond belief!!
Bands cancelled, Events cancelled. The lot. How to businesses get through this, such a grey area. You either tell places to close or tell public to carry on as near as normal as they can you can't have uncertainty like Boris and his cronies have concocted

No. Was carefully worded.
They know exactly what the outcome will be if they mandate a closure.
Compare and contrast with the message coming from Macron in france.

St. Paddy reacted to lossiesaint in Wage Bill
Shock horror, Club chairman says hes spent too much money this year - manager might have to cut his cloth accordingly next season. Sensationalism in a press report.....
We might make a loss this year as he says, but running a football club is not about one season. As I've seen written on this forum, Saints will be due more money in the future if we stay in the SPL due to a new TV deal. Looking at future financial planning is surely in the remit of the chairman and the chief executive, and I'd be surprised if there is not a 5 year plan in place.
He may be a dour operator of a club, but hes running it in an efficient manner, albeit this year possibly at a small loss. I'm not a S.B. lover but I cannot see how getting anyone else in would help this club. I'm pretty sure a lot of people work for this club for no money, so to them I'm grateful for every effort they make, from the board, to the people spending their time on match day helping.
