Our recent result against Dundee and Ross County's against Rangers have been real bummers for me.  However, we are where we are and we'll all have views on why.
I really do hope we put angst aside and get behind the team during these next five games.  The recovery of a patient on a sick bed is unlikely to be enhanced if his visitors tell him he looks awful and on his last legs!

I think history will remember Davidson kindly. 100 years from now, if there's still a St Johnstone, he'll still be known as the manager who won the Double for Saints, long after whatever happened after that has been forgotten about.
But he also played a huge part in destroying so many of the elements that had made St Johnstone successful. We're still feeling the repercussions of the damage he did, and it's looking increasingly like we're going to continue feeling them for several more years to come. If we go down, much of the blame for that is going to be at his door.
His signing policy was atrocious, he didn't bring through a single youngster, his treatment of some players seemed unfair, he implemented the most turgid and ineffective style of football I'd ever seen at Saints, and he was too arrogant to change his ways when it was obvious he needed to. He also made an absolute pig's ear of probably the best chance this club will ever have of reaching European group stage football.
He just completely ruined everything that Tommy Wright had built, and I still find that very hard to deal with.

And St Mirren and Motherwell. Four clubs we were consistently outperforming. We know where it started to go wrong - SB gave up, leaving Flaherty and Davidson to wreak havoc and destroy our hard earned status, our squad and potentially our legacy. I can’t help but wonder if Geoff could have intervened and limited those two incompetent and wasteful chancers given that his son didn’t. Stan may be reducing costs and wages since he returned, but the damage was done by then. How many more years of poor, negative, defensive football do we have to suffer? New owners bring uncertainty rather than anticipation. They’re going to have to prove themselves and earn our support.

There was plenty of effort from the players, but lacking so many of the basics.
Thought Sidebeh was impressive. He was raw, but he was constantly looking to make things happen and scored an outstanding goal.
His attitude towards being a St Johnstone player is also highly refreshing. You can see what it means to him, to have this chance in British football.
A few others could learn a lesson from him.

I’m in my 60’s and recall our slump in the 80’s very well. That has nothing to do with the fact we worked hard to establish ourselves with top 6, Europe and trophies. Different eras in the club’s history. One doesn’t have to affect the other. What angers me is that Brown, Flaherty and Davidson almost destroyed our hard won elevated status, and failed to build on TW’s good work, allowing the likes of Killie and St Mirren to overtake us in a short period of time.

Why is no journalist asking Levein the questions you have outlined above and that an entire forum is left asking each other. Many of the journalists who have regular access to Levein read this forum. From Robert Thompson, Eric Nicholson and Sean Hamilton to Aidan Smith and Matt Gallagher.

I know.TW was treated badly and given very little money to improve the squad. He loved the club, had passion and knew what he was doing and yet the board stifled him, belittled him so actually he could take no more.As soon as he leaves the board decided to give CD the funds that Tommy had always wanted.Surely if he'd been given the money TW would never have walked and we wouldn't be in this desperate situation. The club has lost its soul and its direction just now.Very sad to see but was completely avoidable

I follow a few English clubs on social media, and it's interesting to note the difference between their in-house media presence compared to ours.
Apart from lots more content through the week, videos from matches on this day in the past and previous games against upcoming opponents, the interviews with the managers are far more in depth.
There's a pre match interview a day or two before, which to be fair, we get here but without any pressing questions.
Once the team is announced, there's a quick one or two minute interview with the manager when he's asked about, and explains, any changes to the line up and the like.
This is a great idea, it wouldn't take long and it would maybe help people understand the manager's way of thinking.
Then the after game interview is where you really notice a difference.
A full, in depth interview covering all aspects of the game, the performance, tactics, substitutions and more.
They really grill him. Why did you set up that way? Why take off Bloggs and put on Smith? Why did Jones not get a game? And so on.
It lasts on average, around eight minutes and no stone is left unturned.
With us, you're lucky to get two minutes, and it's always the same three questions.
What were your thoughts on the game?
What about (insert incident that happened in the game here. VAR, sending off, that type of thing)
Then finish with "What about the great backing from the fans? Or, what's your thoughts on the next game? (which Levein always answers as "don't know, haven't thought about it")
Hopefully the new media team will make improvements in this direction.
All of the above would be a good start.
As for the other Journalists from various local media outlets, I'd imagine they don't want to ask challenging questions in case they offend the manager and get their access limited.

Agreed. He has a great attitude. I never liked how CD and then Macca ostracised certain players the way they seemed to. Shameful behaviour. It is to Ryan’s credit that he said nothing and got on with it, then took his chance when it came.

Have my game on the game in the Hibs thread and said the defence was immense but feel I have to praise Ryan McGowan.
It looked like he was destined to leave., Whether he didn't want to leave or no one wanted him was a bonus to Saints.
since Alex Clelland brought him in from the cold he has been immense. The improvement in Gordon's game has been noticeable and you can see him talking the wingbacks through the game which was more noticeable with Fran who he encouraged through the game and covered him to let him push forward.
I think he is the main reason the defence and team as a whole has improved.
we all know his is a Jambo and appears regularly on a Hearts podcast but when he is on the park he is 100% a Saintee.

I’m surprised that Geoff didn’t take Steve’s potentially legacy destroying reckless behaviour in hand when he was throwing money at Davidson to waste (regardless of Flaherty’s part in it or anyone else he appointed). Great management for decades then almost throw it all away, along with our hard won status in the top flight and as a regular top six side with trophies and European qualifications.
