  1. It's not about sentimentality or being stuck in the past, it's about the fact that it's this group of players who are letting down their manager, club and supporters. Getting rid of Tommy might produce an artificial temporary boost as players turn it back on for a couple of games in fear of getting the boot but it would almost certainly be to our long term detriment. We're a small club run on a shoestring and have to take the good times with the bad. The unrealistic expectations of some of the reactionaries on here are just embarrassing. This is a poor run and, as fans, we're angry about it but we've become a victim of our own incredible success. The measure of the manager, the players and the fans is being able to take the relegation battles (which we have no earthly right to avoid) with the cup runs and European adventures.
  2. We're a victim of our own success. With the exception of Celtic, anyone can beat anyone else in this league and Thistle thoroughly deserved their win today. A blip in otherwise great times to be a Saintee. On to the next game.
  3. He'd be daft not to consider it seriously (if they do make an approach). These are the best days in Saints' history but you could argue that Tommy has achieved all he realistically can with us. Who could blame him for wanting a new challenge and a much bigger wage?
  4. The amount of time people spend dishing out abuse to our players is appalling. As if someone constantly telling you you're shite is going to inspire better performance. Embarrassing. A decent tussle between two mediocre teams (as most teams are in Scotland). We have had an incredibly journey in the last few years but we have to take the rough with the smooth.
  5. We have to sell in order to safeguard long-term viability. We will always be a selling club.
  6. Almost as disgusting as your (and others) pathetic attitude towards Rotherham fans on here. Cebuman's post about the need to balance books against a backdrop of low attendances is perfectly reasonable. A player (or any other goods for that matter) is "worth" whatever others are willing to pay. I wish we could get more than £800,000 for Stevie May but the reality appears to be that's about as much as anyone is willing to offer. We cannot afford to take the risk of turning that down when we might lose him for significantly less. I do agree that I thought May would end up with a bigger club, and he probably still will in a few year's time, but the sad reality is that we have to take what's on the table.
  7. Seoul to Amsterdam done, now just a quick hop to Glasgow. Striding through Schiphol wearing Saints top with so much pride! Bring it on!
  8. For dad. We moved from Perth to Glasgow when I was 5 and I couldn't understand the fascination my classmates had with football, particularly this Rangers mob they went on about. After being excluded from lunchtime kick abouts for a while, dad told me to tell the other boys I supported St.Johnstone. They may have been bewildered or bemused but they certainly couldn't bully me over that choice! Wasn't long before I had the kit, went to most away games and, when we moved back to Perth 5 years later, we got our season tickets together. So many happy childhood memories revolve around Saints games with dad. His funeral was the day of the Rosenburg home game. He shone down on us that day and I'm sure he'll be with us on 17th May too.
  9. 9 tickets purchased in Jock Stein upper tier! Seats on flights booked, overnight accommodation sorted.......cannot wait!
  10. Phone sales must be going daft today too......in danger of repetitive strain injury as I keep hitting redial on Skype and mobile simultaneously! Getting pretty sick of the Korea Telecom jingle now....!
  11. Thanks bluesaint. Is there a sense on here that vast majority want behind the goal and North Stand might be bit sparsely populated? Always prefer side-on view and don't have any concessions in group but would clearly rather be in an area that's full. Will be calling up to buy them from over here tomorrow night.
  12. Done! Seoul-Amsterdam-Glasgow on 17th and back the next day (due to work commitments). Can't wait!
  13. Investigating flights from Seoul to Glasgow (via Dubai, Amsterdam or Paris). Fiancee may have objections to me spending close to £1000 on a trip to Scotland when we're trying to save for the wedding though....
  14. Sh*t. One team in the draw that are better than us and we draw them. Oh well, as someone else said, surely we have to beat them some time?
