One of the things I mind from a previous forum meeting was the club said under GDPR if a season ticket holder had said no communication wanted they couldn’t even send them a survey or season ticket reminder. I’d assume any departed ones would therefore not be included unless they wrote to them directly.

Webb suspected there would be “blowback” but underestimated the extent of the annoyance. He has acknowledged that the all-in strategy was misguided. And he has now pledged that every supporter will get the chance to have a say on the issues which have proved to be so divisive before the following season’s season ticket package is settled upon. “We have always said we’d try new things and think outside the box sometimes,” said Webb. “We also said we would make mistakes along the way. “We have always been up front and honest about that since day one. “When things work, people forget that’s what we were doing. “Every once in a while, we make mistakes. “And this was a mistake, I’m happy to accept that. “We tried to do too many things at once and make too many changes at the same time. “We should have staggered changes over a much longer period. “I knew there would be some blowback on doing it all at once – I was a bit surprised with the vehemence on some of the issues. “But that was down to us, we should have communicated things far sooner to people. “We failed in that instance. “The conversation should have started 60 days sooner, but we were all caught up in finishing the season, trying to win promotion. “Nobody wanted to talk about what came next until it was done and we knew which league we’d be playing in. “But once that’s finished, it’s a very, very short window of only a couple of weeks before you have to start selling tickets for the new season. “We should have done a better job with communicating because people felt we’d just pulled it on them all of a sudden. “I accept that. “We had been talking about it and thinking about it for some weeks, and in hindsight we should have communicated things to people in advance. “We should have surveyed fans before last season ended and gave people ownership in the process. “We probably would have tweaked some things and slowed it down a bit. “Doing it over a two or three-year period would have been far better, rather than trying to do it all in one season. “I still do believe the changes we are making will ultimately turn out to be successful for the club. “But it was too much in one go.” Reverse or adjust Webb, who has been in Scotland for a week and will return for the start of the league season, added: “We have listened, we’ve learned and we will try to avoid making a host of changes all at once in the future. “If it turns out the ideas we came up with were bad ideas, then we’ll reverse or adjust them. “I believe they will turn out to work for the club and will help the club drive forward. “But I accept that it was just too much to present to people in one go and take ownership of that.” Asked what fan consultation will look like, Webb explained: “We are going to survey our supporters by the end of the season where everyone will get a chance to give us feedback. “Hopefully the supporters will take the time to engage with the survey and give us their feedback. “It’s important how we characterise this – it will be real survey, which will truly be considered and may change things. “We will consider all of that, weigh it up and decide what next season is going to look like. “Obviously it’s not going to be a vote – you couldn’t run things that way because everyone has different opinions – but we will consider the results, and it will be very much factored in. “Some things may be tweaked or changed, but my hope is by then they’ll show to have worked.”

I completely forgot you got discounts with the season tickets so honestly, I couldn’t give a shit. However, it does make me wonder if there would be a market for having perks included as a bonus with season tickets. I.E free scarf with your first, pay £10 to cover your 50/50 draw or something similar. Surprised they didn’t look at something like that.

I’d also suggest Hearts will likely be happy with a large sell on % and a nominal fee. It’s a good bit of business. I’d be happier with another LB and maybe a winger at a push. I’d say we’re all but there already though.
