  1. I believe this is correct but good relations between clubs are encouraged. Anyway - who gives a flying f***, good luck to Swanson, he's been back playing football in Scotland for a couple of years now and the only team he's shone with is us. His prerogative to take the money and who wouldn't in his position. We'll unearth another player who will enjoy playing every week in a great team environment.
  2. TBH I thought the atmosphere was pretty decent from the home fans on Saturday but I still advocate that we should shut the Ormand and decant everyone into the West and East- the atmosphere for the Hearts game was pretty good. Disappointing first half on Saturday - really picked up after the break and Swanson as I suspected was like a man on a mission - on this showing he has loads to offer. Foster too showed he is a great signing - clearly the Dons fans have a bone to pick with him over his Sevco association. I was disappointed in young Thomson's contribution - I thought he was a perfect sub to get behind the Dons defense but his control and delivery was poor - pleased that TW is giving him a shot though. Goals we gave away were shocking - and we missed Zippy's industry. Spoony was awful and should have been pulled - he has great skill and trickery but he gets caught time and again and drops us in it when we are committing men forward.
  3. With Zippy banned I see the prodigal son Swanson returning alongside Macca. Danny is due the fans so I would hope he'll be up for this match. Only issue I see is lack of height up front. We started the season all these months back against Aberdeen and suspect this will be a similar game of attrition.
  4. Aberdeen are in a difficult spot right now. Their whole season could blow up their face in a two week span; defeat to us and then Hibs taking them out the cup would be a disaster for them. I would be surprised to see them rest players for the semi but it would be the sensible option if any of their players are carrying knocks. The last team they want to be facing on Saturday is St.Johnstone. It's all there was us to take.
  5. If Saints display the same energy and tempo they showed on Wednesday we will have a good chance to win this. Same team is bound to be given the chance to start so young Smith in at fullback. Confidence should be high and allow us to play our game.
  6. Great performance last night - closing down a pretty poor disjointed Hearts team at every turn. The team deserve great praise for the energy levels all night. I loved Paton's contribution he really has settled in to a great addition to the team and he is enjoying his time here. There wasn't a bad performance in the side last night and I will continue to champion Cummins who just runs himself in to the ground. I'm convinced Liam was carrying a bit of extra timber earlier in the season and since he's shed this he looks much fitter and sharper. My man of the match was Macca again, he links everything and is a great team leader. Great to see the East stand pretty full last night - ( I sit in the West) - the young team encourages the support and it really adds to the game experience for all. I wish we could adopt this for all games.
  7. Encouraging to here that Ando has made good progress on his injury but I'm not sure if he will be risked tomorrow night. Smith had a favorable review after his defensive performance on Saturday so Tommy might just go with him. Should be a decent crowd under the lights; time we made our case to be fourth.
  8. It was pure opportunism by the Hamilton players in an attempt to have the game changed in their favor and who could blame them even if it was a pretty sneaky thing to do. The bottom line is we could have been sitting pretty staring at another European foray and that is up in the air now. I don't think we will see either Foster or Swanson again this season once the SFA get involved, I recall some pretty heavy punishments dished out to Craig Levien and Graeme Hogg who had a square go on the back of some amateur film from a preseason friendly.
  9. ****ing ridiculous. Goodbye Swanson!
  10. Don't get your panties in a bunch Widge. We have some injuries and the plastic pitch is not ideal for some of more seasoned veterans so it would make perfect sense to start introducing our fringe players. I am well aware that there is lots to play for but we have game coming up against Hearts on Wednesday also so let lets try and be clever.
  11. Back to football! Honest to God does any football fan in the country enjoy these international breaks? Purgatory! Anyway Hammy away - no Macca and Spoony doubtful. Would love to see some of the new kids get a start to see what we have coming through. Thompson maybe?
  12. Not buying this but a win very much a possibility. We should be able to start playing with a bit of freedom. The well are in hole so this is going to be a battle - discipline will be key.
  13. Smashing win. For the first time at home this year we came out and hunted down the ball in the early stages never letting the Dee's settle. This is our calling card and when we do it closing down the play all over the park very few teams can live with us. Alston was outstanding Paton was solid doing what we brought him here for and I like Foster more and more - what a pick up. special mention to Zippy too does a power of work chasing lost causes unsettling the defence. Zander's save was outstanding. Nice to see TW concentrating on his own team too don't underestimate how slack talk can affect a team. All round well done Saints.
  14. Like that team but I've heard Muzz and Ando are struggling. Any update?
  15. I raised this earlier in the week; can someone start the thread? I am superstitious so didn't want to.
  16. off topic but shouldn't be; is there a game this week? Thread.................
  17. Since we equalized late after the game looked like it was gone it was reasonable to adopt the position of "seeing the game out". Just pretty galling that we didn't have enough nous to do this.
  18. Fair play ghosty. You have the breaking strain of a kit kat when it comes to denying Saints. You are a trooper.
  19. I'm hoping all this TW controversy doesn't hinder us today. I'm expecting a win with no reason other than by law of averages we turn in good performance when there is a big reward in front of us
  20. Just trying to keep bumping up interest in Saturday's important game against Killie. Slightly off topic but worthy of mention is how our excellent our new pitch has stood up this year. I was always moaning about last years pitch and calling out the ground staff but they have performed admirably this year. I suspect with the weather over the next couple of days it is going to be really tested.
  21. Always loved Fraz; when ever I was at an away match and Fraz was out warming up he always gave the thumbs up and applauded the support irrespective of how many were there in the stands - made you feel part of the team before the game had even kicked off - great player and Saints legend.
  22. Great post. 100% with you on getting the tempo right straight from whistle. This is another great opportunity to squeeze in to fourth place- how many times have we had a chance to do that and then got a nose bleed? Come on Saints we are over due a great performance at home.
  23. Only Monday and the game thread is up - Excellent! I'm a huge Chris Kane fan, he reminds of Mark Hughes when he was leading the line for Man Utd. I hope he gets a start after his goal on Saturday. Got to assume that if Swanson is missing this week he is a goner
  24. Your post makes sense but this is football. I'll be glad when they find someone to be the next scapegoat. All the same I'm kind of resigned to losing Tommy in the summer anyway, I just can't see how he will be passed over for something big if we again are top six and definitely if we catch the European spot from 4th.
