  1. The best thing that can happen to the club is to get out of this structural limbo. Manager and the governance structure are not cutting it. New owners wielding a big broom are needed. I'm a season ticket holder and i've not attended since he was appointed. I won't be renewing unless there is significant change at the club. That includes the CEO going.
  2. Pathetic from the board really, but I don't know why I'm surprised at this point. I have a strong personal dislike of Levein, but even setting that aside this looks like an awful appointment. As I said in previous post, there doesn't seem to be any direction from the board. "F it, that'll do" seems to be the new club motto. What a wait of my season ticket.
  3. I think this is a terrible appointment, both in terms of football and as a personality. No one with an attitude that allows them to say "teams like St Johnstone" should ever manage the club. Then again I suppose that raises the larger question; what is the club's direction? We seem to be in purgatory pending the sale of the club, and there doesn't seem to be an ambition to do much more than scrape Premiership survival on the lowest budget possible. Appointing Avril just feels like the least amount of effort possible, which feels wholly consistent with the board's decisions over the last few seasons.
  4. I'll not be back as long as this cretin is in charge. The board should resign.
  5. Christ this is exhausting just reading. I thought it was a great night in the end, even if it wasn't an inspiring start. I don't really think the organisers really did anything wrong, it was well publicised on social media and slotted into the diary as best it could be to work around the commitments of those taking part. Saints are not a well supported club. The reasons for that are many and well documented. Of course it was disappointing not to have a fuller crowd for Dave, but it wasn't surprising. The attendance has very little to do with who is playing, what the ticket price is and what events are on. The simple fact is that if that had been free on Friday night we wouldn't have broken 3000 fans. My personal take away from this was getting to show an appreciation for a lot of Saints players that we didn't really get a chance to say goodbye too. I also got to relive a little bit of my childhood in seeing Roddy kick a Dundee player, score a goal and look like he needed a stretcher. I left the ground grinning like a lunatic.
  6. 2 goals in 30 appearances in the 4th tier of English football before a serious injury? I hope this journo has been on the sauce and we're not seriously interested.
  7. I would rather they didn't bring their religious fundamentalism anywhere near our club.
  8. Saints playing at a good pace. All the energy and commitment that was missing from the first leg. Trakai happen to see this out with a draw by the look of it.
  9. I think we have to accept that these are halcyon days for our club. Without a drastic change in circumstances, an additional 2-3k supporters making their way through the turnstiles we simply cannot sustain any kind of investment. Bottom line is spending cannot outstrip revenue and the club is structured this way. Not a popular opinion I will admit, but I'd rather see use solvent than in the Premiership. I have a hope that the Bertha Park development will be the seedbed for a new generation of Saints supports, but that's a possible long term answer to a very immediate need.
  10. I thought too many players failed to provide any kind of performance. They looked far more rusty then their limited time off would suggest. It's never nice to single out players, but I simply don't understand what Cummins brings to the team. You can talk all day about his running and hold up play, but far too often he is half a yard short on the end of a pass or fluffs it in front of goal. He's a million miles away from the kind of performance we saw from him in his first season. He also falls over with the slightest breeze.
  11. If you don't squeezing into the back of a Golf then you're more than welcome.
  12. Cash at the gate, so I'm defo going. I'll probably be heading up after work (Finnieston), but happy to detour if you need picked up.
  13. Hi, I plan to be heading to the game; will be able to confirm as soon as the club puts tickets on sale and I can get one. Happy to give you a lift. Where in Glasgow are you?
  14. Hi, guys. Seems very quite in here. With the new season fast approaching should we try and get a bit more of a social feel about the place? Perhaps a wee meet up and a few beers before the Euro fixtures? Maybe even try and find a place in Glasgow that has a feed for our away leg (very long shot I know).
  15. This has all gone a bit Follow Follow.
  16. Graham had a stinking attitude on the pitch. I remember Dave MacKay laughing at him when he proper chucked his toys out the pram when he didn't get a pass he was asking for. Has a propensity to dive too. I'd quite happily pass. We need pace up front. Cummins is pacey, but he's a half yard short too often.

I think the timing of the vote, if a vote is authorised, will be key. The Westminster government needs to be be given as much time as possible. They need to prove to the Scottish electorate that Scotland are partners in the union and not just along for the ride. What I think is clear is that this vote is a choice between 2 unknowns, it's no longer a case of voting No to maintain the status quo.
  18. Old Firm? Rangers died in 2012. That said, I'd be willing to give Celtic and The Rangers the East Stand and the North Stand. Although my season ticket is for the West Stand and I'd be hacked off if I were asked to move. Perhaps a free pie and Bovril as compensation for those displaced?
  19. We hate Dundee. The classics are the best.
  20. They're no different to Grenta. Admitted into the league and financed beyond their means that has elevated them to a false position. Saints have nothing to fear from Sevco5088. Tonight is a test of bottle, not of anything else. I wouldn't see a win tonight as an achievement. I would see a defeat as a setback mind you however.
  21. The car park is just a shambles from start to finish. I have a season pass so choose to park there, but I won't be renewing it next year. In all honesty I get back to my car and sit and listen to the radio until the place has thinned out a bit. However on the rare occasions were I have somewhere to be in a hurry the place is an utter shambles. Pedestrians wondering apparently aimlessly in and out of traffic is a real hazard. Why the stewards do not funnel them I have no idea. Then when that's all done there's always some grey-haired arsehole in a Mercedes displaying their sense of entitlement by barging through and stewards who don't seem to be able to count. The solution, as I see it, is 2 fold: 1)Channel pedestrians into specific lanes and 2)First in first out for traffic.Empty the carpark from nearest the Ormond Stand row by row; the traffic to the West of the main stand comes out last.
  22. I'm not sure I would have Loy. I haven't seen anything of him that makes me believe that he is special in any way. I don't think Azeez is up for contract renewal at Partick, but I think he'd be worth a punt if available. Big, fast and decent feet. I just get the feeling he hasn't bedded in there.
  23. Is anyone going to this? I might have a drive up once I've had enough of the office for the day.
  24. I've been a critic of the old website for some time and I have to say that the new site is a vast improvement. It's pretty basic and the icons are very Fisher Price, but I don't see that as a bad thing; the old site was cluttered to the point of being inaccessible. Now they just need to work on functionality and the jobs a good'un. Top marks to Saints for sorting it out.
  25. The Trident vote was a foregone conclusion sadly. For me the outcome wasn't as disappointing as some of the arguments that people used to justify their existence. Arguing that they created job is like arguing to retain slavery because labour rates would go up. It was also disappointing to see politicians who purported to have opposed nuclear weapons all their lives voting for them. And don't even get me start on Hillary Benn; Tony must be rolling in his grave.
