  1. CMon Saints be bold and sign Stevie up for 3 years ! I can live with broken scoreboards and hand dryers but I can a&e live with out Stevie 'Stevy May' !!!!

I'm afraid whether he comes to the Millers or The Owls, you're gonna have to come to terms with loosing him sooner rather than later.

  2. I would like to think I have come across well so far, but those bitter saints fans, look at the above post. We now know we are the only team to have spoken to May, and it will be sorted on Friday. Yes he still may go to Wednesday, but my money's on us

  3. He was around a while though, and he was judged to not be good enough to play more than twice....by a manager who just got promoted for te fourth successive season, I'll take that opinion over soccer base.

  4. Rotherham Utd fans on this forum may be able to tell us about Adam Morgan as he had a spell on loan to them!

He's not good enough for you, if stevie is as prolific as you say, adam Morgan is not a suitable replacement.

  5. Wednesday fans are good craic, my head office is there and Everytime im there I am always asked how the legend that is Steven Maclean is getting on.

But then, they always say so you're the bastards that sold us Phillip Scott!!

I'm guessing you work for Johnston Press?

  6. Basically this how it will go now. Us and Wedneaday have a similar budget to spend, however they can offer higher wages....so unless anyone else comes in for him, he'll be off there. But I wouldn't get excited, their bid will be the same/ similar as ours, only personal terms will be better.

  7. The money Aberdeen handed Arnason (reported 4k) they and the rest of the league were expecting a dominating, classy midfielder who was a step up from everyone on the league. The reality was he was bang average and wouldn't look out of place at the bottom of the league. Funny how that works isn't it, he's now apparently a brilliant League 1 and potentially Championship player. Wouldn't have him in saints midfield after the start we've had that's for sure.

Weird thing is we've never played him in midfield. With Frecklington, Newton, Tidser, Milsom and Pringle, there's no room for him. So had to stick him at CB and after 2 successive promotions I'd say it's worked. Apparently we offered him more so would guess he's on about 5/6k a week with us.

  8. We've had a few guests on from other clubs chasing Stevie. Most were braw, like yourself. Some were not good ambassadors for club nor country. Sorry if you got tainted with that brush.

Scottish football is bust - no Sky money - so players like May, who should be going for £3m plus, are going for much less. The other thing is, loads of young Scots players are being lured south by what to us is huge wages (pennies to you guys). They sit on the bench for a year, or get loaned out, and then return home with their careers seriously damaged. All ends up with a lot of frustration for fans. A couple of Dundee United players though have just gone for serious money - that has changed the context a lot, and Saints may now hang out for more.

Our Chairman is not letting our manager sign any players. £1m would change that (hopefully!) But we're a very well run club, and in no need of a fire-sale.

It's all a bit complicated. Basically, we haven't got any more clue than you whether he'll go, when, and for how much!!!

I doubt you'll get many big time charlies supporting us. 3 administrations, 3 stadiums and minus 37 points in 4 years makes you quite humble. However find ourselves in the Championship (maybe punching above our weight admittedly) with Steve Evans who is a fantastic manager and a chairman that wants the premiership. £1m is a hell of lot of money to us, our record signing until recently was 150k. If we sign May I'd be delighted because from his stats he looks a great player for his age (needs a haircut) but if your chaiman wants 2.5 M then that's way out of our league.

  9. Nicky Law sold his soul and ambition and moved to rangers/sevco after a good two seasons with Motherwell. He did very little last season against part time teams will be interesting to see how he handles the championship. Interestingly, or not, his brother now plays for Motherwell.

Lionel Ainsworth was superb the few times I saw him last season and scored quite a few goals for Motherwell.

Nicky was a strange one for us, definitely had the potential for good things and had raw talent, however he was lazy and it really doesn't surprise me that he dropped down just for more money. Lionel was different, he worked hard and could strike a ball brilliantly but he struggled for us in league 2, I guessed the physical long ball style hindered his play. Glad he's doing well now. Mentioned earlier we have Arnason, not sure how he did for Aberdeen but since he's been with us, he's been classy, skillful and always seems to be ahead of the players around him...however can become over confident and make a blunder from time to time.

  10. You never came across wrong at all mate, like most fan forums we to have our own bunch of complete f*cktards.  Just ignore them, thats what the majority of us sensible contributors generally do.

In my opinion you asked a sensible question in a polite manner that deserved to be answered in the same way.

Cheers pal, it happens, we have them on our site as well. I know some fans down here seem to view scottish football badly but from what I've seen it's not drastically different from ours, just the tv coverage that differs really isn't it? How are Nicky Law and Lionel Ainsworth getting on in your league? Played for us in last few years but let them go, would like to think they're still scoring.

  11. Hi guys.

Thanks to those who've been welcoming, to the others who've been abrasive, it's understandable and I apologise if I came across wrong.

At the end of the day I have nothing against your club, not have I ever seen Steve May kick a ball, all I know is our club are heavily linked with him and the bookies have made us 2/1 favourites. As I said earlier we have 4 strikers so don't think we need him but Steve Evans clearly wants him and if you turn down 1m I'm sure that'll be our interest over with.

  12. ^^^^ damned quote thing won't work!

I think that may have been true a couple of years back, but too many players have gone down from up here recently and fallen by the wayside.  Stevie has said he still has a lot to learn and would rather do it here, before seeking a BIG move.  The grass is not always greener.

That's fair enough. we have 4 strikers already so we'd have to sell at least 1 if we signed him anyway. Just wanted your guys' opinion on it. Bookies seem pretty certain though..

  13. Welcome to WAP Hardolez21 and any other Millers who are looking in.

I can't see Stevie joining you lot.  He's waiting for a big move and I'm afraid a poor Championship side doesn't really fit the bill.  Stick to rejects like Broad Clubfoot.

Anyone wanting a big money move will surely have a good chance in the Championship? Score 10 goals or so in the Championship and a prem team will snap him up.

  14. Offt they have Kirk Broadfoot too. Definitely Diddies. He wouldn't get near our team.

I highly doubt Kirk will get near our starting 11 either. No way will he get in front of Arnason.

  15. I think he probably could play at a higher level but if you guys offer £1m upfront I'm not sure we'd turn it down. Personal terms may be a different matter though. I don't know, but i suspect we're paying him relatively well and he definitely likes his 'big man' status in Perth. Would probably take a lot to tempt him.

Thanks for an honest reply, I was never been a smart ass, just wanted your fans' opinion. Not sure how much you know about Steve Evans but when he gets his sights on a transfer target, he seems to not let it go until he signs them. If we offered £1m up front and around 10k per week which is what was rumored, do you think you'd accept or is that too low?

  16. Afraid he's out of budget for you guys. He's good enough for SPL/Europa League so yes, by default, is good enough for the Championship.

I wouldn't say being in the Europa League nescaserily means you're good enough for the Championship, didn't drogheda united play in the Europa league?

  17. Afraid he's out of budget for you guys. He's good enough for SPL/Europa League so yes, by default, is good enough for the Championship.

Anything up to 1 million isn't out of budget, how much do you think he's worth?

  18. Hi, Rotherham fan in peace.

Just wanted to get an idea from you guys to see if you think it looks like Stevie could be on his way to us? And if you think he's good enough for the Championship?

Reports down here keep linking us with him and Steve Evans has stated he rates him but refuses to say we've bid for him.
