Derek Patterson
Phoenix in the Nethergate is always a good pint. Trades is good too & do decent food though probably not in the evening.

Do you mean frews sporting lounge? There is one on the Hilltown called Sports Bar. Don't be fooled by the name though. It's not a twinkling cave of flatscreen tellies. It's a ****ing dive. David
Frew's - on the corner of Strathmartine Road and Moncur Crescent. Does it still have huge pictures of darts legends, up on the wall? Seemed to be a darts theme pub, if there could be such a thing...

NeilSJFC
Phoenix in the Nethergate is always a good pint. Trades is good too & do decent food though probably not in the evening. Pheonix is where I am headed. Do good food there also (better than Trades I would say), so going through early and having tea there with my old man (who still lives in dundee). Great pint, good atmosphere even if its not particularly cheap. edited......reading this back I am reminded of the old rule - Parenthesis, however relevant, is (usually) not necessary Edited January 25, 2010 by NeilSJFC

My favourite pub in Dundee is Mennie's (or the Speedwell) further up the Perth Road. Neither are anywhere near Tannadice though.

Not sure about the pictures but there are rows and rows of shelves behind the bar that are positively buckling under the weight of all the trophies the pub's "arrahs" team has won in recent years. It's only 5 minutes walk from Tannadice and you get a decent pint, sans casuals, avec character. You could do a lot worse. A LOT worse.
