Radford 72 Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I know there was a thread for discussion earlier in the week but to follow on from previous years, thought it was worth naming a We Are Perth Player of the Year for the season. Andy Jackson won the award in 2007/08 and Kevin Rutkiewicz in 2008/09 but what about this season? The previous years have been easy votes for me but this year is a bit harder. Have included all the guys who have featured on more than fifteen occasions.
Radford 72 Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 Personally, I think if guys like Duberry and Samuel had been here/fit all season, they could have had a strong case whilst guys like Grainger and Millar have been key parts of the team and Davidson has had a brilliant first season but it comes down to either Morris or Mackay for me. I'd struggle to name a bad game from Mackay though. It's not just about the consistency though as he's been generally brilliant both at centre back and right back. Was glad to see him recognised by Jack Ross of St Mirren when he named his team of the season on his BBC blog this week too.
deej Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) Cant choose between Superdave, Millar or Murray just now. I'll pick later Edited May 9, 2010 by duncan08
Rodgers Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Everyone has played their part. Some players have been fantastic for us this season but for me its got to be . . . Dave Mackay.
Cagey Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 No contest. Dave Mackay but Millar & Davidson close.
Marty Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I agree if duberry had been here all season i think he may have got my vote. But for me Dave Mackay has been sensational all season long!
Sainteesean Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Alan main didnt feature more than 15 times? jeez
patsy Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Alan main didnt feature more than 15 times? jeez thank god for that
Jings Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Superdave for me as well. More for consistency and fighting for the cause, than sparkling brilliance. Wasn't too impressed that we signed him in the first place, but proved me wrong by a mile. I think Muzz would have been the man this season, had he not been playing through injury on many occasions; or so it appeared.
lampshade Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Dave makay for me davidson young player well done to the whole squad
soulfulsaint Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 I made a choice to go with Jody. Whilst David McKay was exceptional and hugely consistent I think Jody exuded a confidence about him that made our step up to the SPL much easier than I ever thought. Murray Davidson was impressive too.
Bruno Strasser Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Dave MacKay has been outstanding - the level of consistency is the key for me. If some of the others had shown this we might have been pushing for a European place.
101 Saint Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 thank god for that Are your Smithy in disguise!?
101 Saint Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Cannae be Mackay, he's poor at right back and has played there most of the year. Heart wanto give it to Kenny, but matching him on goals was last year's left back and a man who quite rightly gave Del the fist - Liam Craig.
CynicalSaintee Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Gingerinho, if not POTY, Young Player of the Year. Bear in mind he's only 22 and he's scored 10 from midfield/defense, it's an outstanding contribution and he's an outstanding player who'll go onto bigger and better things.
sjfcsean Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Cannae be Mackay. He's been our best player, no doubt about it!

101 Saint Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 He's been our best player, no doubt about it! For a few games at centre back.

Sir Julius Fuffington Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Voted for MacKay, easily the best defender at the club. Special mention to Millar and Craig too for their performance this season.
