AthensSaint
Shopping Centre is owned by the Duke of Westminster I believe.
Carron
The Duke of Westminster was the first owner of the St. Johns Centre. The current owner is The Universities Superannuation Scheme (a pension fund), they bought it from the British Aerospace pension fund. Can't remember who owned it before. ejksjfc
The last time I was on the High Street I did think it was looking fairly good.I have not been through the centre for quite a long time however I don't think it looks very good to have banks at the main entrances.(Is it still Dunfermline Building Society at the South Street entrance)

Tranmere Saintee
What is the main cause of these shops closing ? Â The usual excuse around the country, and not just Perth, is the high costs of both rent & rates for city centre premises. Carron
Carron
The Nationwide took over the Dunfermline.
Carron
A lot of business premises are leased. When the lease is renewed it can be with much increased cost. With retail chains, they will have people at head office looking at what each branch costs to be there and what it makes. Not making enough can mean closure.
