Cagey Posted March 27, 2016 Report Share Posted March 27, 2016 Will see a lot more stores closing,Big firms dont want to pay the so called Living wage, Companies looking at down grading the rights workers have built up over the years including Double time for working Sundays B&Q being the latest to announce this, already a big spike in zero hour contracts, and stores wanting to open longer on a Sunday.My gawd Sixties,the government bows to pressure from you lefties to introduce the living wage & you still find something to moan about. I can see why companies are looking at reducing costs by altering overtime rates etc.I Think the SNP actually welcomed of the living wage but criticised its legislation. They introduced a higher living wage at 7.85 an hour in scotland. As for the Sunday opening its strange that scottish stores can open l for more than 6 hours in scotland but not in england as scots mps voted it down. It is a shame that such an iconic store is closing but I suspect it is more down to the general death of the high street and the rise of the Internet than the minimum wage. Campus do not meet a High Street location as they have a specialist niche that means people will go to them. Cutting costs whilst maintaining a city centre location makes long term sense. Saints should allow Campus to run the saints shop. Allow them to use it not only on match days, but rent free during the week.Always aim to buy from Campus rather than Sports Direct etc. What's killing the small shops like Campus is the deals like SFA with JD sports.With any luck, a new location might mean a bigger store and wider range of stock.
