Another shop bites the dust...

There are houses there now, the toll house was also pulled down

Design award winning houses which look hideous and do not fit in with the area.

Especially the dried out looking timber frontage .

Can't say what they're like internally.

Oh, sorry think this is in the wrong thread.

Should have put in the "Most horrible design" thread.

Actually your post would be at home in both threads.

The old toll house was derelict for years, and had been used as a drinking den.

===================================================================

If it wasn't the toll hoose that she lived in, in must have been nearby, when in my formative years I name called a rather plump female called Muriel Harding.

I'll leave you to guess what I said about her surname..

However I miss judged her pace, me being a small upstart and fleet of foot, believed I could outpace her.

Sad to relate stamina prevailed over speed and she caught up with me, lifting me up by the breeks and depositing me over a metal railing into someone's front garden. Funny how you never forget these humbling experiences. Moral.........never underestimate the power that females possess.

Anyone on here that knows her, please pass on my belated apologies.

Sorry to digress. Back to topic.

"Athens, When your next home you need to take the open top bus tour of Perth, so you can see all the old Places."

I think that bus stopped running 3 or 4 years ago, leaves a huge hole in the market for tourists getting taken round but unfortunately PKC is not very forward thinking when it comes to this sort of thing. Should get one of those wee road trains you see overseas

christ, there'll be bookies everywhere now. normally it's deprived areas you see clusters of bookies and shite takeaways.

probably says it all really!

THIS IS CRAZY .....why are the council allowing this to happen? Filling prime location retail units in the city-centre with masses of bookies and pubs encouraging folk to bet and drink in a recession is the reason some towns are no go areas or areas of high-crime drug dealing and muggings.Perhaps if folk didn't have so much temptation they might think about other forms of entertainment like going to the football???

Go into a bookies and you will see fixed odd betting terminals (offering games such as roulette etc). They have been dubbed the "crack cocaine of gambling". Currently  bookies are limited to four machines per shop. The machines make money, serious money. To get round the restriction, they simply open another branch.

Yes, was reading the paper and they were saying that the bookies are buying up shuttered/closed  resturaunts to get round local authority planning restrictions. (This might be an English issue)

What bugs me is the rentless adverts on the telly where a "free" bet is offered. Just imagine the fuss if tobacco and drink companies offered free fags and spirits as part of their advertising patter.

And don't get me started on payday loan "companies"!

If you google http://www.ballroomscotland.com/ they are the owners of this. The page does say opening soon. However how long is a bit of string.

I emailed them recently and didn't get a reply.

That said, I was in their new Glasgow branch recently. It was excellent-great bar, nice food, everything new and well looked after. Hope it's the same when they open up here.
