The Duke of Westminster was the first owner of the St. Johns Centre. The current owner is The Universities Superannuation Scheme (a pension fund), they bought it from the British Aerospace pension fund. Can't remember who owned it before.

The last time I was on the High Street I did think it was looking fairly good.I have not been through the centre for quite a long time however I don't think it looks very good to have banks at the main entrances.(Is it still Dunfermline Building Society at the South Street entrance)

A lot of business premises are leased. When the lease is renewed it can be with much increased cost. With retail chains, they will have people at head office looking at what each branch costs to be there and what it makes. Not making enough can mean closure.
