Non Football Signing

Since it would seem that there is nobody at the club capable of drumming up interest in St Johnstone surely it is time to look at bringing someone in who has experience in marketing/ advertising/ generally bringing fresh approaches to attracting new supporters and rejuvenating supporters who have fallen out of interest with the club. I'm sure there are people out there who would relish the challenge and genuinely feel passionate about doing something like that.

That is why we got a non exec director on board, who has specialised in that.

Exactly what I was thinking. Best squad in over 10 years, yet we still can't get 3000 home supporters to the game.

With some people having issues getting their family ticket and the complete lack of promotion and knowledge of the deal, surely the need for someone to take up a promotion/ marketing role is blatantly obvious?

Our club must be missing out on so much potential income by failing to address this issue.

Completely agree, there seems to be so much consensus here, what is the marketing strategy exactly, have the club ever shared this information?

Think they should sign up Larkie for this role. True dedication to the cause.

You say this in jest but I'm sure there are plenty of guys (and girls) on here that would be capable of at least coming up with ideas and putting them to the club. I can't understand how the board have sat back and seemingly allowed the support to slide to its current level without properly addressing it.

I'm more than happy to offer my help, even as a volunteer. Whether they would want it or not is open to debate. Have got loads if ideas that I think could see 1000s added to every home game, with v little financial cost to the club.

Saints should maybe consider using volunteer fans as club ambassadors i.e. Discussing all these great ideas that are talked about, getting out and about drumming up support and promoting the club across the community, country, continent, world! Or has this been suggested to Saints board before and not happened?

We seem to keep talking about what saints should do.

Why not have a cheaper family ticket, but make it available to away fans too. Surely getting as many families, kids in not just for the sake of saints but the sake of Scottish football.

Something the spl should be introducing is a one price for this ticket so when you go to away games you pay the same price. Gets more fans in all over.

Agree -Other than organised hit squads seizing citizens off the streets -blindfolding them and subjecting them to realms of torture ---then getting people of all ages into the Stadium is going to be very difficult.

Agree the way ahead -might be- to allow Schools in for a very small amount or free -( anyone know how the SRU do it at the Rugby ?).

The admission to a ground for "families" is rediculous--as the last away game in Aberdeen proved £23 per adult and £17 for a Kid -plus the cost of getting there plus food etc soon mounts up -and for what 90 minutes of guff/entertainment.....its no wonder folk choose to do something else on a game day.

TV and Sky in Particular have a range of packages that would give those famillies access to a hell of a lot during the month for a day at the football.

Clubs need to generate income -to attract decent and very good players to the club-hence the prices they do charge - if they reduced them -then they risk loosing a few players who demand a particular wage......so the circle begins.

Cant be easy for the club to lean one way -more than the other.

Saints have always struggled -support wise-although there have been periods (90s etc) when the "fans" flocked back.

We can take thousands and thousands (6 or 7) to a cup semi -but not to league games at home............The club would need to put out a Survey tio find out WHY .

When disposable income is low, it's easier to put a few bob away for the big games.

Coming up with £22 + travel (+ Kids) for regular home games is beyond many fans reach.

Send Supersaint down the High Street before every home game, to scare the bairns up to McD.

It would be brilliant if the club had the facility/ were willing to take on board fans' thoughts.

St Johnstone FC needs to have more of a presence within Perth. What's the point in doing a family day if only families who usually go to games or read the PA that know about it!?

I'm about to lose my season ticket, cause even though I'm 19 now, I got an 18 and under at the start of the season. Now as a student, there's no way I can afford a full price one, surely the club needs to offer cheaper ST for those in full time education, over the age of 18??

WARNING - CAN OF WORMS OPEN - WARNING

We've discussed this several times before and the general consensus has been that students should not get preferential treatment, unless others who are deemed unwaged (unemployed etc) also get a discount. I expect you'll now receive a torrent of abuse from less well-balanced posters though. Good luck!

The student thing has been done to death on here, sadly most people don't see the potential benefits of it. I emailed the club a few months ago basically asking about student rates and got a reply saying it would be discussed at the next meeting. I doubt it ever was.

People need to get rid of the whole "it's not fair to give one demographic a discount when there are plenty of others who aren't". The family discount is only available to those with a family, or who can find themselves some kids for the day, yet it has been well received.

Anything that can entice more fans to McDiarmid, be it price reductions or special offers or through other advertising means, has to be viewed as a positive thing. While we are obviously not the only club in the country that has these problems, from some people's responses on Pie and Bovril it seems that other clubs are doing more to try and get more fans in their grounds.

I dunno mate, probably only myself and a couple of others. How many people have contacted the club to express their concerns about pricing, or about all the other groups that they feel should receive discounts? These things have also been discussed a lot.

I'm sure the club are well aware that they don't offer a student discount etc but in a time where fans are vanishing it would be interesting to know if they have explored the possibility of offering one, or if not then why not.

I suppose one of my main points here is that it shouldn't be down to a few fans trying to encourage the club to introduce offers etc to entice fans. The club should be the ones working their asses off to get fans back to games but at the moment they just don't seem to be doing that.
