Sheffield Saintie
Just a stupid little idea.... Why don't Perth Council make Perth the 'Independent Shopping Capital of Scotland' ? It would still have it's chain shops which every other city/town has. But.... it specialises in the privately owned store where you can buy stuff that you don't get anywhere else. McEwans being an example, where else would you get a department store with such character including it's sloping staircase. That is Perth's strength, small compact city centre, where you can get things you don't get anywhere else. I love it when I come back from Sheffield, because whilst Sheffield does have a lot of independent retailers, they're spread over a huge area. Perth is too big, the out skirts in a wee village would be better
fazman1977
New Cafe(Giraffe) opening up in the old toilets in Mill Street! Is that what's going in there? I did wonder when I went past and seen the building being gutted. Giraffe are a charity are they not? They've got a wee garden nursery up by the lade as well I think. Carron
Blockbuster (Scott Street) are shutting. I can remember the video library which was there in the 1980's one side was VHS and the other Beta. Gradually, the VHS took over. Sad to see the place go. Kevin
Looks like the old Bang & Olufson shop is to become a Sainsbury Express sooner rather than later... Should have the main one open at the mart by next summer too
