This is the vote for the Retro World Footie Shirts Goal of the Season 2011/12 award, which will be presented at the awards night at McDiarmid Park in early May, along with one for Player of the Year (which will be based on the standings in the weekly Man of the Match awards), and Young Player of the Year, a poll you can vote in here and as seen pinned at the top of the main page.

The trophies are being handed to the engravers next week, so unfortunately, like last season, we need to go to a vote before the end of the season. We haven't scored a goal in April, so there is no monthly vote required, leaving eight contenders, the winners of each on the monthy polls we've had on WAP throughout the season.

Last season's winner was the following effort from Danny Grainger at Ibrox Stadium in August...

The contenders:

August - Francisco Sandaza vs Livingston (h) - The first of what is seventeen goals in a Saints shirt, Sandaza provided an early indication of his quality by taking a pass on the edge of the Livingston box, creating space for himself and powering a shot into the top corner.

September - Cillian Sheridan vs Hibernian (a) - Saints were chasing the game but Sheridan gave us a glimmer of hope, controlling a flick from Haber, rolling his defender and in one movement drilling a shot across the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

October - Cillian Sheridan vs Kilmarnock (a) - On a hot scoring streak, Sandaza pounced on a mistake by Sissoko and released Sheridan. The Irishman rounded Cammy Bell and from a tight angle made the finish look far easier than it was.

November - Dave Mackay vs Hibernian (h) - On a windy November day, Dave Mackay made the most of the conditions, curling a free kick around the Hibs wall and past the goalkeeper, delighting those in the Ormond Stand.

December - Liam Craig vs Hearts (a) - It was still early in the game when Kello and Webster got in each others way and the ball broke to Craig on the edge of the box but the midfielder appeared the calmest man in Gorgie as he simply lifted the ball over the Hearts goalkeeper and into the unguarded net. A quality finish.

January - Jody Morris vs Motherwell (a) - If the finish (a volley from twenty yards) wasn't good enough, Morris created this goal as well, turning his man in the midfield, giving the eyes to the defender before releasing Croft and then taking the ball back from the winger on the edge of the area.

February - Callum Davidson vs Dunfermline (h) - Another great move from a Saints side who battered the Pars. Davidson plays the ball into Sandaza in the box and continues his run, with no requirment to even break stride as Sandaza rolls it back into his path, leaving the left back to knock the ball past Chris Smith.

March - Lee Croft vs St Mirren (a) - Saints had barely got out of our own half a few minutes into this match when the ball breaks to Croft on the right. The Englishman takes a few strides before lashing a drive past Samson from fully 25 yards.

Really like a lot of the goals selected and also Sandaza's at Hibs in January that didn't make it but the reason that one didn't make it is because of the quality of the Morris goal. He has three great bits of technique in there and that just gives it the edge for me.

Poll will run until Friday by the way.
