I'd be happy with a 2-1 or 3-1 defeat. Away goal, bring them back here with all to play for

You speakmuch sense youngster. Any of these results would not be disasterous.

It would be more than we could hope for to imagine we can take the tie back all square but ....you never know:wink:

 don't sound too surprised!

For this game, given Tadé's a doubt, I'd go with..

Mannus

Miller Anderson Wright Davidson

Millar Moon Cregg Muzz Craig

Hasselbaink

Would love to play Adams in this sort of game but can't help feel he's the sort of player that would get frustrated at tiring in the heat and do something rash. A good sub to bring on with 30mins to go

Craig and Midge can provide good cover for our FB's, (full backs not fat Bs) and although it's boring and defence minded, I'd be happy with us being within 2 goals.. any win or draw, or a defeat of 2-1, 3-1, 4-2 etc would not be too horrible. As long as we still have all to play for and can bring bodies through the gates next week in fine song.

To go through this round would be enormous, but to at least have a meaningful second leg at McD would be enough for me

Tade being out is a blow - according to Lomas they are a very physical side.

Is this the chance that Stevie May has been hoping for? Realisitcally, we only have him and Higgins for this role and of the two I'd probably prefer May.

Would agree that Tade is a real loss. If it's a choice between Higgins and May, I think Lomas will go with Higgins as he seems to have featured more in our friendlies. Would agree with the poster who said about being happy to still be in tie after the first leg. Saying that that could only really mean a 0-0 or a 1-0 scoreline to them, anything more and it will be a real struggle for us.

I've watched a few EsK games online. I have to say I was not overly impressed. Some of their midfield was pedestrian at times. They are certianly a lot worse than Celtic. Nothing to fear at all in my opinion. A tough tie but a lot easier than Monaco all those years ago.

Kamara is their top player, didn't exactly have an amazing spell in Scotland.

If we play to our capabilities the tie will be up for grabs still next week.

COYS

Which games have you watched? because if you think Kamara is our best player you are going to be in for a big surprise.

I expect us to struggle in the match and would be very happy to still be in the leg back at Perth. I'd go 2-1 to Eskisehirspor with us having to defend for much of the match. I cannot see how they can do well in the league in Turkey without being a very good side and hope we survive the first 45. Like us they have had a decent pre-season. Love to be wrong. But could be a tough 90mins

and while we are at it.... any more for the prediction league....

numbers are still a little low for what is saints first european game in a wee while.

Id be very happy with a 2-1 defeat or even 3-1. An away goal is a must if we are to get through this tie. They will be very disciplined and will look to tire the guys out in the heat.

Tade out with hamstring injury. Explains why he wasn`t playing on Saturday. Looks like the team against Partick WILL be the team on Thursday.

Agree that an away goal would be a bonus if we lost 2 or 3.

Oops Should have read page 2.

My heart says we'll get a result, my head says this will be over in the first leg.

Like most I see us playing like we did at CP and Ibrox last season, hoping to get a little luck along the way.

Tade being out does limit the options upfront, not sure that Hasselibank upfront on his own is the answer...but other than two other wee lads what option do we have? Mind you, their CBs are meant to be quite big, so maybe, just maybe!

Gutted I decided not to go as well:sad:

Last time I went to European away game our forward options were Lowndes, Simao, O'Boyle, Grant, Thomas & Connolly.................

That says a lot. Simao, O'Boyle, Grant and Lowndes would walk into our current side.

Still, Higgins is a tidy player and Stevie May might just turn out to be a star for Saints and there is no better stage to prove yourself!

This is our third foray into European competition.

First time, 3 rounds.

Second time, two rounds.

Third time.......?

I see a pattern but I don't want to say it :)

This will be a really tough tie but, as many seem to be saying, if we can keep it alive for fortress McDiarmid then I'll be pleased (and surprised!)
