No, as he may upset the relationship we have with our friends in Turkey. The following is taken from Wikipedia.

''Boyd signed a three-year contract with Turkish Süper Lig club Eskişehirspor on 8 July 2011

Boyd terminated his contract on 19 December 2011 and started legal proceedings against Eskişehirspor claiming he had never been paid during his stay at the club. He had played just 76 minutes of league football for Eskişehirspor''

Ended up winning his case and a £2,4 m payout.

so you would pass up the chance of a player who could help get top 6 and europe as it MAY upset our friends?

yes, but on a appearance / goal basis. suits both parties. he would get training and games, we only pay if he plays or scores

but will never happen

A proven goalscorer and a penalty box striker who is presently back in Scotland and looking for a Club.

Would you take him until the end of the season??

why ?the seasons over.however i would take him to clean the toilets until seasons end then put him on the dole.

No. Great goalscorer in his day but surely another high earner is the last thing we need at a time when the club should be trying to cut costs. Our squad is big enough and we have more than enough attacking players already. The transfer window's over now and it's time for the manager to concentrate on getting the best out of what he has.

Would have been a great shout prior to the whole Beattie shambles. Once bitten twice shy. Think he would get a bigger club than ourselves.

Logic as sensible as those not wanting another foreign Scotland manager because Berti wasn't a huge success. Don't see what Beattie's failed spell here has to do with Boyd.

we cant afford the squad we have at the moment

never mind signing someone who would want 1k a week possibly a lot more than that!

He was also on TV the other week saying he had "unfinished business in england"

thats where he will end up.

While things might have not quite gone well for him over the past 2-3 years. 1k?

Dream on, the MINIMUM you'd have to pay for Boyd would be in the region of £10k, more likely nearer 15K.

He turned down Rangers offer and a big money offer of 50k a week from a Turkish side when he joined 'Boro.

Fair enough, things didn't work out at Middlesborough but Strachan signed a lot of new players at once and none of them really performed that season. He played 76 mins for ESES as the manager that signed him was sacked before the 1st league game, where he was rumoured to be on 40k a week.

In theory, assuming we could persuade him to join he would be a cracking signing.

That said however, he's clearly a lazy git who will put the ball in the back of the net given half a chance, but won't make the chances for himself...

I haven't seen much of our performances this season, but reading reports it doesn't sound like we're creating an abundance of chances (a few games aside).

Ultimately, if we could afford him & persuade him to join, he'd stand as far up the pitch at every available opportunity.....and do sod all.

I'd say quite the opposite. We have regularly been creating a huge amount of chances but are simply failing to put the ball in the back of the net.

Good to know, sometimes hard to get a feel for whether we've been creating chances from the reports. Perhaps he would be a cracking signing...
