Rosenborg V St Johnstone July 18Th Europa League 2Nd Round

Recommended Posts

"

A steady flow of supporters to the Ticket Office today coupled with the club receiving fewer tickets from Rosenborg at the weekend than had been advised, means that unfortunately all the tickets received have been sold. The Ticket Office will therefore not remain open for the previously advised extended hours.

As was... already arranged, the club will be receiving tickets from Rosenborg when we reach Norway and these will be sold to supporters from the Quality Hotel Augustin, Kongens gt 26, NO-7011 Trondheim, between 2pm and 4pm on the day of the game (Thursday).

A mobile phone number for you to use for queries is 07462 526173 from Wednesday onwards but please do not use the number to ‘book’ tickets as there will be sufficient to go round. However, Rosenborg have advised that they will not be selling direct to away fans themselves.

The price of the tickets is £18 for all seats - please try and pay in sterling if you are buying from the contact at the hotel"

Nah its away to get sorted but using my old one and just the same number.

Do you have to contact your provider for better roaming charges or is that all sorted now??

If you are with Orange, EE (or whatever) and haven't been Abroad since you joined them you have to make them aware your going abroad because it wont work otherwise.

2 cracking goals but first was a bit lucky after the striker fell on his arse to get in the perfect position ;-)

Look dodgy at the back, I don't see anything to fear, lets come back with at least an away goal if not a cheeky wee win! COYS!!!!!

Highlights from yesterday's game if anyone is interested.

Possible Rosenborg line-up:

                        Ørlund

Gamboa - Reginiussen - Strandberg - Dorsin

              Svensson - Jensen

Dockal        -      Chibuike      -      Mikkelsen

                        Søderlund

Ørlund - GK. Decent keeper from Sweden. Big, but a bit hesitating in the field-work. Man of the match twice iirc during the last months.

Gamboa - RB - Costa Rican. Extreme pace and very good stamina. Contributes well in attack. Bad positioning defensively.

Reginiussen - CB - Captain. Fast without any obvious weaknesses.

Strandberg - CB -  Not fast, not slow. Rough player. Was excellent in the recent Under-21-EC when Norway reached the semi-finals, where they lost to Spain.

Dorsin - Swedish. Slow, but compensates decently for his lack pace with experience.

Jensen - CM - Our best player this season. A proper fighter, runs alot and never goes into tackles half-heartedly. Good at crossing and in general a very good passer of the ball.

Svensson - CM - 20-years old with 100 matches for the club. Similar to Jensen when it comes to intensity on the pitch. Lacks Jensen`s passing. Been good this season.

Chibuike - Winger/Striker/AM - Nigerian. Very good dribbler. And thats about it. Not a good finisher, even though he has scored 5 goals in the last 4 matches iirc.

Dockal - RM/RW - Our best player last year. From the Cech Republic. Great passer with possibly the best shot technique in the league. Scored about 20 goals last season as a midfielder. Not particularly good in defense.

Mikkelsen - Winger. Danish. Bought from Bundesliga this winter, and has been utter shit for us thus far. Plays without confidence, and has done very little to deserve a place in the line up.

Søderlund - Striker. His first match for Rosenborg, should he play. National team player. Very strong and very hard working. Good shot, but does not score many goals.

Soderlund isn't in the Uefa squad as far as I can see

Not entirely sure how it all works, but I think the teams can sign up one extra player for every round of qualification after the original deadline. He definitely is available for playing the match, that I know

Timmeh is correct, you can add one player for every round.

Norwegian TV2 will stream the game online, but you have to pay to get that service, and it might be geo blocked. But since they are streaming the game there might be som free streams aswell.

You can register one player as late as 24 hours before the first match starts.

So we might yet get our all singing all dancing signing before Europe! ....or maybe Rory Fallon really was that signing.

My view of this is that Rosenborg will have registered their squad long before us as they entered at the 1st qualifying round, and due to their progression can register one more player. Should we defeat Rosenborg and reach the next round, we will be allowed to register one further player to the squad we submitted on friday

The club, but nicknamed "The Saints" (saints) based in the Scottish city of Perth. With a population of about 50,000, the city on the River Tay, about the middle of Scotland. Because of its location, the city is often referred to as the "Gateway to the Highlands" (entrance to the Highlands).

In the Middle Ages, the city was also called St John's Toun of residents due to the main church in the area that was dedicated to John the Baptist. The name is now preserved in the city's football team, St Johnstone FC.

The club was founded in 1884 and has since 1989 played their home games at McDiarmid Park. The stadium has a capacity of 10,456 spectators, and is the first in the UK, built with only seating.

St Johnstone have historically lived a floating existence between the top two divisions in Scotland. During the 90th century, however, had made some success with several years in the top half of the top flight. Third place in 1998-99, behind Rangers and Celtic, however, was the highest layer reached. And the team is thus one of the few professional teams in Scotland who has never won a major trophy. They have played seven cup semi-finals and lost them all.

After the great period of the 90's relegation in 2002 was a major letdown. Not until 2010 did the team to get back to the Premier League, and has since created a rising curve. Eighth Place in 2011 to sixth place in 2012, and finally the third in 2013.

The team has participated in the European Cup Competitions only three seasons before. Furthest came in 1971 with victories over Hamburg and Hungarian Vasas, before I was stuck in the third round against Yugoslav Zeljeznicar.

St Johnstone were eliminated in the second qualifying round of the Europa League last year after 1-3 loss over two games against Turkish Eskisehirspor.

The squad this year consists of mostly domestic players. The nyzealandske striker Rory Fallon is one of the exceptions, and he signed just in time to get ready for meetings with Rosenborg.

Besides playing the Dutch attack player Nigel Hasselbaink for St Johnstone. Fortunately, he is not as good as his uncle Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who Botts in goal for Leeds and Chelsea 10-15 years
