Is Steve Brown Qualified / Should He Go

Quoted from Pie and Bovril, from a Motherwell supporter:

BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT

The club is again facing a potential shortfall of cash in the second half of the season. It has lost a combined £780,000 in the two seasons 2011-13, and has predicted a loss for last season. In February 2013, the Well Society helped the club meet a cash shortfall of £150,000 by buying shares. Last season the Well Society lent the club £230,000, which has been repaid: the club also borrowed £125,000 from an asset finance company. With the cup exits this season and difficulty in replicating last season's SPFL prize money, there is the real prospect of a bigger shortfall. While the club has no bank debt it still owes more than £360,000 to John Boyle, who has security over the stadium as a condition. If we cannot meet the shortfall together, the club will need to be sold and could be sold very quickly.

So, Motherwell supporters can help by,

PROVIDING A LOAN

We have come up with a range of benefits (outlined below) that will be provided to anyone who can lend the club enough money as part of a consortium. The stadium would be used as security for the lending consortium on a pro-rata basis. We are looking for pledges of £10,000 upwards.

Lender Benefits

In summary, in return for pooling their resources and providing the loan it is proposed that the consortium members will receive the following key benefits:
all loan amounts repaid over an agreed timescale, with the club stadium providing loan security and protection
a competitive rate of interest, paid annually
a combined 20% share of any player's transfer fee to another club
a combined 20% share of any surplus if the club reaches the Scottish Cup Final
all benefits of the Well Society's amber members
a guarantee that John Boyle will transfer his shares to the Well Society, confirming fan ownership of the club.

Let's just say we come 10th this season, avoiding relegation whilst at the same time paying for all these required improvements..... Then next season we add a bit more quality/few more faces in the squad and improve..... Would some be willing to call it a good business gamble?

if the chairman had made this completely clear to the fans then fair enough but they way he went about his business over the summer was farcical

Not necessarily. The damage may have been done by driving away the new fans.

Ok folks, have put together a breakdown of the infrastructure constantly referred to on WAP for your information. This info was made freely available last night at the Q&A last night. As the Chairman quite rightly alluded to, the stadium is now 25 years old and from a maintenance point of view should be maintained as an asset to a high level, both to satisfy the match day certification and also the customers. Happy to answer any questions.

I think if the webpage is also being updated to support mobiles devices and the variety of different internet browsing platforms then that price probably isn't too bad. If it also includes online purchase of tickets, merchandise etc then it's probably outstanding value

Getting that kind of thing done by a professional company - especially if it involves some kind of eCommerce system - isn't cheap. At all.

Although what the club should do is contact either the college or Dundee uni. IT students usually require a software project in their final year.

This would be free. It gives a student a project they can work with an actual client rather than a pretend one as well.

The club get a free site. They would obviously need to get it hosted etc.

Worst comes to worst they don't need to use it if it's not quite up to scratch. The student could still go away and work on it after the project is over and the club could pay them some sort of fee if it is good.

Would save them a lot of ££.

Could the club think outside the box a bit.

For things like the new fire alarm system or the new air con they could think outside the box a bit for those type of things too imo.

Come to some sort of arrangement for say getting it at cost price in return for free season tickets for staff or certain amounts of hospitality etc. Just examples but I'd like to think the club do these kind of things already.
