Don't often agree with Carragher, however discussing the VAR offside decision which denied Villa an injury time equaliser, he was 'spot on' that the forward was fouled before the cross was delivered. At the time and before listening to the summing up, I thought the goal should have been chalked off and a penalty awarded. Surely water on top of plastic will freeze & should they not cover them in cold weather. Is there drainage on plastic pitches. Should Livi be fined. When watching games like this I take the broad view, how will the result affect Saints? So I would have preferred a Rangers win. However, looking at things from another angle, the longer it takes for Rangers to be mathematically certain the league is won. the longer it will be before Gerrard can start thinking about resting his better players. I suspect his target for the season will be to make as big a splash as possible in case a Liverpool opening comes up in the summer. So he will want to win the Cup and do well in Europe to further polish his CV. I thought Lennon was a cheap option when he took over from Rodgers but a friend with shares in Celtic tells me he is on £2.4 million. Did not believe him but googled it and he seems to be right.
