PauloPerth
Look, I know the sun has been shining out of TW's backside since we won the Scottish Cup, but it is waning faster than the speed of sound. How much longer can we, realistically, put up with the way the team are playing, and some of his substitutions?I am not advocating his removal as I have not been 'up the road' this season, but from what I have read and heard, things appear to be regressing rapidly.Other Managers/Coaches have not been shown the same leniency as that afforded to TW, by Mr Brown, so is his peg shoogly?I was just thinking about another legend, Lord John Connolly, when posting the above comment, and the time he was given to attempt to get it right.Just asking? "I have not been 'up the road' this season ""How much longer can we, realistically, put up with the way the team are playing, and some of his substitutions?"..but just thought youd bring up a point about whether we should keep our manager anyway, just to add a bit of drama to your evening Dunc? Eastenders not fulfilling enough for you? Internet porn not hitting the spot?5th in the table and a season where we reached another semi final. Plagued by injuries constantly this season and a recent lack of form, sold our most effective player, 3rd lowest playing staff budget in the league, but yes you're right let's ask whether we should be discussing removing our manager. Did TW not sign a contract extension recently. There's got to be a hefty compensation clause in it I'm sure. Just as it appears Brown will not shell out for players of the standard required to compete in the league now, I doubt he'll hand over cash to someone he shows the door to. Come on TW get a grip thou' even stupid people learn from their mistakes and don't keep making the same ones. A very precarious 5th that could very quickly become 9th or 10thAnd let's not get carried away re a semi final. Only had to win two games or something to get there and then got it all wrong against a team from the division below usAgree re injuries (although all teams get them) and small budget Edited February 24, 2016 by Edstar101 lampshade, Norsaint and Saintdunc

As far as comparisons with John Connolly are concerned -really???Connolly almost got us relegated from the second tier. Tommy will keep us comfortably in the top tier. Massive difference. tucker
Tommy is getting leeway at the moment but can you tell me any player Tommy has brought in that is doing really well and has changed the team at the moment swanson showed a bit last night same old pros doing the best muzz midge Ando McLean cuptie all ageing but still doing brilliant most of the time season after season

Ok, that's obviously fine by me, if he does do the business, and we do remain comfortably in the top tier. My comparison was only in the length of time in the job and not on his capabilities. One swallow doth not a summer make though and we must show some consistency now we are (appear to be) an established, middle of the top table, SPFL side.John Connolly's legendary status was not diminished, in my eyes, because he 'failed' as a Manager Edited February 24, 2016 by Saintdunc
tucker
saints are needing a revamp end of season bring in players able to take midge cuptie McLean muzz big Frasers places not just squad player s these players have been the main stay of saints in the past apart from muzz you will only get another season or so out of them and we need a commanding experienced centre half like big Fraser at the moment I would get shot of Craig, Sutton, brad MacKay and Scott brown offer contracts to Thompson and lappin as he has the quality to change games Edited February 24, 2016 by tucker

Carse of Gowrie Saint
Surely you'd bring on Thompson and move Spoony into middle??why mess around with the back 4??Spot on, this was the obvious change to make, couldn't believe it when Tommy reshuffled the whole defence. Edstar101
^^^^^^this all bloody day long. TW deserved fully the mouthful he got from Ghostie for that alone Even though none of us could do the proverbial 'better job' that the 'club can do no wrong' brigade churn out we could only shake our heads in disbelief at what Tommy decided to do Edited February 24, 2016 by Edstar101
Jamie_Beatson
Seen several people suggesting Spoony to the centre was the obvious change with Thomson on. Wasn't at the game but slightly dubious about that. Spoony may work centrally with one of Millar or Davidson, but asking him to fulfil either of their roles is hardly a recipe for protecting our back line. Also bear in mind Thomson was virtually anonymous on Saturday, that change may only have served to weaken us even more. Not that I'm a fan of Fisher there either.central midfield is going to be the key area for us over the summer in terms of recruitment as right now our two best players can't be relied upon in terms of fitness and we have little adequate backup. Any combination would have been better than messing about with defence. You don't change your CH's unless they're injured or having a nightmare even in an u13 match. Honestly think we wouldn't have lost a goal if he had kept the back 4 unchanged.Other concern for me is Spoony's fitness, once he has made a forward run he struggles to get back. Longer endurance runs (40's/80's) would address this weakness in his game.

I don't think we can have him in central midfield as he does not have the pace or tackling ability.

Kyle
If we'd carried on our early season form, chances are we'd be above Hearts just now as well.Tommy's changes are a bit hit and miss. He made what looked like 3 shocking changes against Motherwell, yet they changed the game in our favour and we won as a result. Cummins was a genuine contender for MOTM, Sutton won the free kick which we scored our winner from and Lappin delivered a perfect cross.Thought he was a bit unlucky on Tuesday with the 2 enforced changes. Really not impressed with the second change, but he got the other two right IMO. Edited February 25, 2016 by Kyle

Got to agree re Motherwell, I said something along the lines of "Oh well, looks like he doesn't want to actually win the game" when Lappin came on.. Never been so happy to look like an idiot. Some seasons will be better than others, but every season we are in spppffpfl, realistically, we're punching above our weight, given some of the teams around us. Kilgour
The subs bench is different things to different people.First and foremost it provides cover when you have to make unwanted changes i.e. injuries and red cards. It is also a useful tool to replace struggling players for whatever reason form, conditions etc and for countering a particularly strong opponent or exploiting a weak one.some teams have subs specially to be brought on to score against tiring defences.........we have John Sutton.I dont pretend to understand all of TWs subs and I praise him when they work but equally feel its not unreasonable to puzzle and comment over the ones that dont.Nobody gets their subs right all the time, but quite regularly I am plain baffled.
