I don't accept it's over at all. Saints need to get a specialist on him to get to the root of the problem.  Keep repairing the symptoms but not actually getting to the cause of it and making adjustments, e.g. In his running style, his warm-ups, etc, or as someone else has hinted at, his driving a long way after training etc.  Who knows?

He's very fit and is one of our best players when he's injury free (!). A lot of folk on here were going on about how Macca was finished a couple of years ago, and he's done well since returning to fitness.

If it means taking Midge out of the picture for 3 months to get it sorted then so be it.

Great input. Take it you've seen his medical records?

Yep of course he does. It's just in his mind that he has a tear in his hamstring.

I'm not saying he's making it up. Clearly he isn't. But there's something that's making this happen so frequently. Is he pulling out because he's worried and putting more strain on his limbs as a result? Or is he going in too hard (this is Muzz's problem, and Bryan Robson in years gone by - they just put their bodies on the line so much they keep hurting themselves). Or is it like Jurgen Klopp's analysis of Daniel Sturridge - he just has to work through the pain. For it to be so frequent, there has to be an underlying cause. And it doesn't seem physical, because the injuries aren't always in the same place. Therefore, I think a sports psychologist would be advantageous.

I see what you are saying but I think it is more of a physical than mental problem. Owen during his time at Liverpool is a perfect example of a player who has an underlying hamstring problem which took a while to sort out and required a tailored warm up and cool down process.

Hopefully the new physio will be able to get to the bottom of it.

Just as an aside, and probably not relevant, but I wonder what his record of incapacity for work was like at Cappielow. Perhaps someone who recalls, better than I, can say what sort of number of games he was getting through in a season in his first few years at Perth.

Psychological or Physical, it is getting to a stage in his career where his future participation in the beautiful game must be nearing a conclusion, injury free or otherwise.

When he puts a full shift in, he is still an asset.

If you go here http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=34739 you can change a filter and see each season and the games he has played.

Much as I'd love to see Midge fully fit again, I'd rather any money spent on a psychologist was to rid us of our 'Scottish Syndrome' where we do well against the top teams but struggle against the bottom feeders.

His season is possibly over - https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/944804/st-johnstone-boss-tommy-wright-fears-midfielder-chris-millars-season-is-over-just-days-after-signing-a-new-deal/

And boss Wright said: “Chris has suffered a groin strain and will be out for two to three weeks, so his season could be over.

“With the three games in a week at the end of the season he might have a chance, but we’ll just have to see. At this stage it’s highly unlikely, which is disappointing.

“We will give him a plan over the summer because he needs to get this over and done with.

“It’s a different injury, but it’s roughly the same area of his body.

“We want Chris back and ready for next season.

“It’s unfortunate because he’s just signed his new contract, but he has done enough to earn that here, so he’ll get treatment and we’ll look towards next season.”

I read it as previous physio got the boot for ****ing Chris up, new guy solves problem and all's well. Maybe not. They did say this was a new injury though.
