sleepless 991 Report post Posted May 16, 2018 this has been a rough few months. Buck was a little before my time. He was one of the names I learned to love, but never saw him play.
GMac 320 Report post Posted May 16, 2018 Let's call Buck a robust forward, with a no nonsense style. Now having a kick about with some of his old team mates. 1 Dave Ferg reacted to this

70saint 6 Report post Posted May 16, 2018 Buck was a real character in the team. A tough tackling midfielder he took no prisoners, and if we were trying for the winner, he was sent up front and he didn’t half cause havoc when he was there.
Oldmuirton 75 Report post Posted May 16, 2018 Probably my all time favourite Saints player. RIP big man.
ejksjfc 714 Report post Posted May 16, 2018 RIP Buck. Another favourite from my formative years as a Saintee gone. Sadly it is a fact of life that the team that we followed then are all now of an age when they have reached that time when it time to depart from this life. Templar Saint 492 Report post Posted May 16, 2018 Remember Buck walking up the Dunkeld Road with the other players and always had time for us young (then) autograph hunters with a wee word and a smile. RIP Buck, another boyhood hero now in the Saints team for ever.

sideline 21 Report post Posted May 16, 2018 I recall in the League Cup semi final at Hampden against Motherwell, he scored early in the game perhaps even in the first minute. Later on he and the Motherwell keeper Peter Mcloy went for the same ball and Mcloy hit the back of the Hampden net still holding the ball. Mcloy had the look of Wiley E Coyote after a run in with the Road Runner. Pity we lost the final to Celtic. 2 sixties saintee and Coltrane reacted to this
HOODLUM65 2,709 Report post Posted May 17, 2018 Yep, Buck & Fred Aitken scored in a 2-0 win. Buck also played in the final on 25/10/69 when Bertie Auld scored. (think that was from 18 inches out) Gone but never forgotten.
McCarry One Nil 246 Report post Posted May 17, 2018 My only memory now and why it's my name on here was New Years day 1970 in glorious sunshine at Muirton Park against the Arabs and my memory of the goal in our 1-0 win was a stramash in the box and big Buck stepping in and the ball Buck and about 3 Arab defenders ended up in the net. RIP Buck 2 1 HOODLUM65, south inch and Dave Ferg reacted to this
