tessa
We were at the game. Half empty, with lots of cynicism mostly directed at Mulgrew and Naismith (until he scored). McGinn had a few howlers in the second half and maybe should have been taken off. It was a relief to come away with a win, but we should be thrashing these sorts of teams and werent able to. Abernethy Saint
No mate. He wore a fake moustache and just snuck on the team bus. Got away with it, too
tessa
Yes Ferguson and McGregore banned for life when Burley was manager. Didn't see anything to say the ban had been lifted. Mind you my man had life bans from certain hostelries in Perth which were "forgotten" after a couple of years...espcially if the manager changed. sixties saintee
Tell that to the family of Dunc Mckerchar who got banned sine die for daring to send off a sevco player.

Abernethy Saint
They are to play at Lesser Hampden, which they’ve done for long spells in the past. Presumably they’ll use some of the dosh to do it up a bit.

It does seem he was going to be re-called quite soon after that ban was issued according to his wiki page.
garydavidson
Managed to find this: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/141224/Barry-Ferguson-and-Allan-McGregor-return-to-Scotland It seems it was over when they changed manager. "Express understands that any of these players will be considered again but they would have to make a public apology to the Tartan Army and show a willingness that they want to play for their country. It has brought a change in stance since the ban on McGregor and Ferguson was announced although Smith has insisted it was never a lifetime ban. ‘’ We never said they wouldn t be chosen again ‘’ Smith insisted. ‘’It was never said it was a life ban.’’"

I wasn't sure if it would be included in what the SFA just bought, given that it's on the surrounding Hampden land/grounds.
south inch
Anybody know if the Willie Haughey, who has part bankrolled the SFA purchase of Hampden, is in any way related to the Willie Haughey who played for Saints circa 1960? He was what in those days was called an inside forward. Abernethy Saint
Errrr no, not unless Saints were signing 5 year olds. His connections (non-playing) were mainly with Celtic. Decent guy by all accounts.

"In any way related" - nephew, 2nd cousin. Our WH was a decent player but he was certainly more than 5 when he set Joe Carr up for a goal in the cup against Aberdeen. Abernethy Saint
Sorry, missed that. No idea, but it’s a fairly common name. I did discover that our Haughy was besties with Jimmy Johnstone, and it was Willie who got him sorted when he succumbed to alcoholism. Just how old are you?? south inch
