No, it’s a straight 6 v 6 draw. Doesn’t matter if we finish first or sixth.

Wiki have a page just for this (they have a page for EVERYTHING). We’re still 4th.

Now dropped to fifth, despite winning the last 3, but a nice gap has now opened up from the bottom 4. We’ll probably be OK if we win our next two supposedly easy games (one of them won’t count for this table, depending on who finishes bottom).

Second place surely now secure and probably seeding as well.  Brilliant.

Question now is who will we be up against in our play off group of 4, still work to be done.

Didn't know it was groups. Thought it was a straight knockout.

Three groups of 4, each play semis and a final, producing three winners. See link above.

Its all about keeping the TV companies happy with more meaningful matches. Until recently, they would just have taken the 3 best runners-up.

I think we will be OK if we do indeed win our 2 bankers - as we should.  The only slight worry is that we cannot improve on our 14 point mark unless we take something from the Denmark game.  The unthinkable is a draw instead of a win against whichever of our bankers finishes 2nd last.  We would then be trying to win a seeded spot with 12 points.

Of course other teams could also have problems maxing their points total and it is too early to try and work out the various complications unless you enjoy mathematics.

Yeh, it’s weird. It’s not like a normal league - the teams keep changing as they move in and out of second place! One worry is that we have played more than some. But I think we should be OK.

Mother of God, we were honking. Good job Dykes knows how to punch a ball.

Now third, on 14 points. We won’t go any higher in points in this runners-up table now unless we do something against Denmark, and it’s as certain as it can be we won’t go any lower. The next game for us almost certainly won’t count for this table.

Of course, we need to finish second. Only Israel can catch us, and they are away to Austria next. If they get beat, it doesn’t matter what we do in our last two games.

Christ, this would drive you to drink....

Down to fourth after tonight’s games. Tomorrow almost certainly won’t count for these purposes. Might yet need something against Denmark to be seeded in the play-offs. Our relatively poor goal difference is doing us no favours.

You are right, we cannot even improve our GD against Moldova for seeding.  On the other hand Poland, one of our seeding rivals, can improve their GD against Andorra since they look like dropping their San Marino results.  My head hurts trying to do any further calculations for the likes of Norway and the Czech Republic.

Conclusion - Come on you Andorrans.

Now 6th in the Play Off league - squeaky bum time. A point from the Denmark game would wrap it up, far too complicated to do the what-ifs beyond that.

Thought the Norway result was good for us but now Turkey have appeared as a real threat to our seeding hopes.  A point from Denmark could become essential.

Norwich must have a glut of star players , when Scotland International Billy Gilmour has struggled to get a game.

What a player.

Their ex manager said that Norwich were not willing, despite taking him on loan, to be responsible for his development.

Think he made an error of judgement considering the perilous position they are in.

Yeh, most journos now seem to think we need a point. It’s a combination of our dodgy goal difference, and the fact that so many groups are two-horse races, meaning second place gets a lot of points. Denmark haven’t exactly had a lot of practise defending, and we looked very good yesterday, so you never know.

And now 7th, after Wales put 5 past Belarus.

Scotland clearly taking inspiration from Saints, and even bringing on an ex-Saintee!

So we will now be seeded, and at home, in the Play-Off semis in March. Draw a week Friday. The host for the one-off final, incidentally, will be determined by a draw.

Slight worry that both Portugal and Italy are in the Play-Offs, but if we play like that.......

Crowd were braw, according to my laddie, who was there. Great to have a national team to be proud of once again. And brilliant that we have a player in the squad. Hopefully, there will be some warm-up matches, and he might get a game.

Hard to pick a man of the match.

McGinn's tenacity, Gilmour's ability to work his way out of a tight situation,  McGregor having his best game.

Others playing their part, with defensive heroics in a great team effort.

Adams giving the 2 giants at the back a very tough time.

However, how he found the energy to sprint onto the pass so late in the game, which resulted in him scoring, encapsulated what he's about.

So, for his all action performance and goal I give him my vote.

Roll on the draw.
