It's a strange one. Incredible achievement to top that group. But those last two games we were really poor over the course of the 90 mins. We seem to only be able to play well when we're up against it. So, we wait until the game is basically beyond us against Greece before actually turning up. Last night, we can't hold onto a lead, but are incredible when it looks like all is lost. It's a psychological issue that we have to sort out before the World Cup starts. We saw it first time in the Euros: great performance against England for the draw, then terrible against Czech. It's like there has to be some real drama for the good performances to come through: a must win, a last minute, a degree of national pride.

It's also seen in the way we play: we either sit off and invite pressure, leaking goals, or we're all out attack. 6 goals scored and 5 conceded in two games tells a story. An incredible achievement, and amazing way to do it, but the interview that struck me most was McGinn saying we were actually pretty poor. We can't keep relying on top-drawer goals against teams like Denmark and Greece who both looked far better teams than us for the most part.

Clarke has done good things with this team, but for us to get to the next level we need to mature and become a team that can win for the sake of winning sometimes, to get the job done. Ironically, I think if we'd have drawn against Greece on Saturday and only needed a draw last night (and so played for the draw) we'd have lost and been out because we'd have sat in the whole game and just invited pressure.

The win v Denmark was good, but without help from Belarus, it'd all have been in vain. Who cares, though....we're there!
