Yeah, I had forgotten that it was a friendly at best. That's why this team was selected, and why little Nothcott is on. Our last competitive game before Celtic and this will not be our lineup...........surely!

Of the 11 who started, it wouldnt be a shock if only Kerr, Tanser, Craig and Kennedy start against Celtic.

This today is just getting minutes into some players IMO.

Our problems going into this game were the lack of at least one goalscoring striker and a fit, solid centre back pairing.

Nomattter what happened, our problems coming out of this game were always going to be the lack of at least one goalscoring striker, and having a fit, solid centre back pairing that have enough competitive game time.

The result of this match is entirely irrelevant. All that matters is time in legs, avoiding injury on a plastic pitch, the big man getting game time with Kerr and if TW learns more about the team then that's a bonus.

I think Swanson will start and one from Vihmann or Duffy Therefore in my opinion over half will start

Whilst it's easy to write this game off as a glorified friendly, with a smaller squad this season there is no doubt we will have to rely on these players fairly regularly as the season progresses- we are dreadfully short of quality in certain areas and writing this game of as a friendly doesn't cut it for me.

This could be a very long season if we don't strengthen.

Positive arguments surrounding playing staff today are highly qualified in political spin....this is the squad we have to keep us in the league this year..

Next Saturday has to be damage limitation.

Players confidence must be pretty low at the moment.

Pumped by Montrose, Forfar, Inverness (friendly) and Ross County and a failure to beat Glentoran....crap, no matter how you wish to spice it up and serve with a garnish of delusional parsley.

Have to agree. As much as it's valid to point out that this isn't a meaningful game and perhaps not our strongest possible line-up, we still should have been able to get a result out of this and it would have been a much-needed confidence booster ahead of Celtic Park. I hate to say it but we're seeing some major warning signs at the moment and at this stage of pre-season that's a big worry. We absolutely must get some genuine quality on board, and quickly.

Last seaosn group stage was almost identical for us. Montrose hit the bar with a wonder striker whereas this season they scored it.

The lack of striker has cost us, that'll be resolved before the season really kicks off.

Looking at the tables, we should let Forfar beat us. Potentially that knocks United out the cup and potentially Dundee if they don't get a win v ICT on Saturday.

Do we play for ourselves or put both Dundee clubs out the cup as 4 of the best runners ups?

Looks like you got your wish. Touch & go for United as lots of teams on 7 & how come Dundee get to play tomorrow. I thought all final games had to be played same day same time for fairness.

Anyway. Embarrassment, For far through with 9 points & we have 3.

United are out. Only the best 4 runners up go through and they're not one.

It has to be. Broon has been at every match this season, and offered May a record wage. The moneys there to get a quality striker.

Dont think Stevie May could be classed as a quality striker, surely they score goals?

This seasons league cup has been a failure. Plain & simple. The objective, as it should be in any domestic cup competition Saints are involved in, should be to try & progress as far as possible as they present the best chance for clubs like ourselves & every other team with the exception of the old firm to win silverware. We’ve managed just one win in four against weaker opposition. So not only have we lost the opportunity to win something we’ve undoubtably lost out financially as well. As for the “it’s only a friendly” or “its a meaningless game” or “important to get minutes into legs” I strongly disagree. It’s just failure, plain and simple.

Had we qualified instead of County with our luck we would probably have drawn Hamilton at whatever they are calling their ground this year, got kicked off the park and lost to an Alston goal!

Ha ha . Your a true saintee
