Morton v Saints

Saints team this evening:

Zander Clark, Richard Foster, Scott Tanser, Jason Kerr (c), Steven Anderson, David Wotherspoon, Danny Swanson, Murray Davidson, Kyle McClean, Michael O'Halloran, Callum Hendry

Swap Kennedy for Wotherspoon and that’s about our best starting line up and you would assume that one that Tommy would like to field for most of the season.

No was on the bench. Can't believe Tommy would not play the centre half partnership that finished the season so well.

Would have thought you would have known by this time it's all about getting all of the pool of players fit and ready for the battle ahead.

hell's teeth, it's meant to be the difference in thinking the glass is half empty or half full.

There's folks on here who think it's the glass is half empty or it's smashed into a million pieces on the floor and all the drink is draining into the gutter.

This is a pre-season friendly when the players work themselves back to match fitness after five or six weeks away. And Ando is a club legend and a great player, but he didn't play with us last season so Tommy will not have seen much of him. He has to assess whether the guy still has what it takes. So of course he has to get game time. There's absolutely no way you can deduce from that the idea that he is now first choice.

Tommy's been doing this a wee while now. He probably has a fair idea what he's doing.

Going by the second half it didn't look like they have achieved that yet.

Maybe playing different teams in both halves has made the players think they only have to play for 45 mins :).

Wasn't at the game, so accept your word they have not yet achieved full match fitness.

Our best line up is struggling against Morton 2v3

Maybe we had our best line up on when we were winning 3-0?

There should be no fight back against a team that finished 5th in the Championship

Think ICT finished fourth and drew with Hearts last night, not to forget about Arbroath who were a league lower last season and beat Hearts, Hibs and Celtic this pre season.

Is this a friendly or pre season or is it a cup match that does not matter?

I think I would have found that out before i started posting:roll:

Saints were really good for 50 minutes tonight. The passing, the movement, the tempo - Morton couldn't live with it. A real step up from the Irish games.

Morton then reverted to what you'd expect from a David Hopkin team and went very direct to Sutton and you have to admit that it rattled us for a spell.

The game calmed down again and we saw it out. For eight outfield players to get 90 mins at this stage of pre-season speaks volumes for their fitness as well. Imagine Duffy, Gordon, Callachan and Craig will get the same on Friday night.
