Player contracts and transfers

Seems a bit of a hasty move. Why not challenge him to make an impact in the first half of the season, with the reward of a new contract at Christmas if he does the business? A two year extension at this point is a bit of surprise, given the tightness of the budget.

i dont think kano is the type of guy that can give anymore even with that kind of incentive but maybe with a long term contract it might put him at ease and improve his performance

clydes superscoreboard were talking about storey to jags earlier in the week

Joe wasn't a failure.

Could be successfully argued either way, but ultimately their loss is has been our gain.

If Storey does end up here he will have a great opportunity to stick it to Aberdeen and show that he can still make it, and we've seen how well our team thrives when we have players in the squad who are out prove a point.

Would you rather we bring in a lump like Sammon instead?

Don't want any Dons failures at my club.

If he is not good enough to get into their team struggling for goals then I don't think he will be any better for us.

Tommy letting Hurst go must mean he still has a striker in mind & I think it probably is Storey.

And Ciftci couldn't get into a Celtic team that had no other strikers available the other day. Doesn't mean he's not got ability, but if the manager has decided that you're not part of his plans then so be it. See also Watson, Keith.

Think Tommy realised he made an error with Watson.

In Cifti's case think it's his temperament/attitude thats his downfall.

So what you're saying is there are different reasons why players don't fully break through or hold onto their place in a team? That's why I wouldn't be so quick to judge Storey as a 'failure'

If Watson does end up leaving, I think injuries and circumstance have been the end of him. He's been out most of last season and we weren't really affected by it. Clive Smith's performances probably helped convince Tommy that Comrie would be adequate back up for Foster and he'll be much cheaper.

I feel a bit sorry for Watson. He's a good player but injuries have effectively ruined his career to date.

Storey doesn't really fit in that Aberdeen team, in much the same way MOH doesn't fit into Rangers. Most teams don't give Aberdeen much space in behind and Storey's primary strength (for me anyway) is his pace and directness. He'll fit in much better with us, particularly away from home. We're a decent counter attacking team and having two players as quick as MOH and Storey would be great for us, especially when added to the cleverness and guile of Wotherspoon, Scougall and Maclean.
