..... Even though I have said that in my last comment I can't help thinking saints will pull out a suprise signing none of us were expecting. It's all very quiet at the moment.

Tommy waiting for an agent to phone him with a signing. Appears to be the way we run our transfers these days.

Seen reports linking us with Oli Shaw. Would you take?

Decent goalscoring record, think he would be a better option than what we have

Welcome SSS.

Watched Oli Shaw in a development game against Saints at the Oriam sports complex when he netted a hatrick and thought this guy is going places.

We'll have to wait and see.

Not as first choice striker, no.

Do we need this as much as we need a striker? You may be a bit young to remember Jimmy Bone, Randoom.

Hamilton have brought in Jimmy Bone as a specialised striker coach to try to get more goals from a side who were the lowest scorers in the Scottish Premiership last season. (Daily Record, print edition)

Yes, because the 3 years we've spent trying to get one of those will randomly be successful, two weeks from the end of a window...

In all fairness we've spent six years trying to sign a prolific goalscorer and it hasn't happened, but that doesn't stop us all clamouring for it to happen two weeks from the end of the current window (and probably two weeks from the end of the next, and the next, and the one after that).

I think if we had one bloody good central midfielder who could play through balls on the ground for any of O'Halloran/Kennedy/Swanson/Wright/Kane/Hendry to run onto, we'd be a lot more effective in attack. But if we're not going to play like that and are going to resort to pumping the ball hopefully up the park... that brings me back to thinking we might as well give McMillan another shot (and I know he didn't get a game for Hamilton, but honestly, at the moment, I don't see why that matters). Ironically, I thought both of our goals against Livi came from playing some really nice passing football.

As for the May situation - if what's been reported is accurate (I'm not 100% buying into what the papers have said), then it makes Steve Brown looks like a really poor businessman. Yes, of course you negotiate, but if you're negotiation strategy means that neither party ends up with what they actually want, then it's a bit of a crap strategy.

He may have some potential to be a decent player at this level but he's far from established. We really need someone with a bit of experience and is comfortable playing on their own at times,(most of the games probably).

Whole thing just seems a bit like....."Get somebody! Anybody in!".

Also, I'm really not keen on developing a player for a rival.

Loans from teams round about you are tinpot.

Hibs only letting him go on loan to a club IF they sign a new striker and IF said club pay his full wages. Not holding my breath

Yeah, great deal. We wait to see if Hibs get in a new striker then we pay wages ,probably higher than we pay our own players to give another teams player game time. He is also unavailable for at least 3 games. Yeah, NO BRAINER.

Sheffield and Preston aren't top flight teams, never mind Scottish teams, so can you please stop bringing them up?

I misread his Aberdeen stats as for some reason have pre and post split games in separate categories.

Either way, If we use the figures you've used above, hes involved in a goal at Aberdeen every 3.5 games, despite everyone claiming hes "shite" there. Thats means, in terms of projected figures, he'd be involved in 11 goals over a 38 game season. No player in our squad managed double figures in that regard last season.

For us and Aberdeen hes involved in a goal every 2.5 games.

Name me a striker we can sign for free who has that pedigree?

Ok here we go change the goal posts again. I have not looked who we could get for free but last season those that were involved around 11 goals last season

Andrew Nelson Dundee 7 goals 4 assists in 21 games

Eamonn Brophey Killi 3 Goals 9 assists in 24 games

Oli Shaw Hibs 4 goals 6 assists in 23 games

May is no better than them according to your projected figures

Name me a striker we can sign for free who has that pedigree?  I believe we can get Oli Shaw on loan and using your criteria, his projected figures are better. I used your trusted transfer markt site for the figures

YES BUT OLI SHAW WOULD BE A LOAN, POTENTIALLY FOR SIX MONTHS, WHILE MAY WOULD BE A THREE YEAR CONTRACT.

CAN YOU SEE WHY I HEAVILY PREFER MAY OVER SHAW YET?

Dear me, has it really come to this. :?

Will St Johnstone scouts be keeping Hibs info'd of any possible targets they come across that might interest them.

Have we unearthed Stevie May's latest agent/adviser?

Randoom seems to be pushing him harder than any of Stevies previous agents/advisers.

Maybe needing his cut of any fee to get a gardener in to do his grass or he could spend less times on forums and just do it himself.

It's pretty sad to see everyone getting chippy waiting on this new sensation.

There is no way we will not sign someone before the window closes and we might get a pleasant surprise. There's loads of decent players in the English lower leagues who know they are not getting regular games with their respective teams who will jump at getting a move for first team football and put themselves back in the picture.

It's been too damn quiet from the front office but news will break soon.
