Abernethy Saint 3,371 Report post Posted February 21, 2020 Exactly. You could play brilliantly, create 25 sublime chances which some numpty misses, and get no credit. Then the ball accidentally bounces off the 17 year old triallist into the path of the CF, who scores, and the triallist gets a stat. What if you consistently assist the assists, eg a brilliant playmaker playing it accurately long & wide, getting no credit, the point Tranmere is making? All footy stats are fun. Some are more meaningful than others. 2 Tranmere Saintee and Cagey reacted to this

From what I've seen of Drey Wright, he does seem to be pretty good at putting crosses in. Perhaps there's an issue with the fact that we have good wingers, but our strikers aren't really the kind who thrive on crosses (possibly with the exception of Hendry, but he's often on the bench). I wonder what Drey Wright's assist stats would be like if we had a big target man in the middle. I also think Wright may have suffered slightly from the loss of Foster, who was great at overlapping the winger in front of him.

I hope Drey re-signs but don't think he will . I think he will take the chance of going back down south. Would have hoped for a wee bit payback for the patience Saints showed in rehabilitation after his injury.
Linky 121 Report post Posted February 21, 2020 Why have we not got Drey signed up already? Unless he is stalling, the club should’ve sorted this out. Other clubs will start circling and then he can push the price up.
Cagey 2,318 Report post Posted February 21, 2020 Good interview with Callum Booth. Guy is looking for stability. Get him sign ed up on 2 year contact. Hes also had two long term absences in that time frame before joining us to his knees aswell. Rumours go hes trying to become one of our highest earners. Would you say a player with his injury record, and goal return, is worth that? Edited February 22, 2020 by RandomGuy

Not too fussed on his goal return. I think he’s only started to hit form again over the last month.

Linky 121 Report post Posted February 23, 2020 Depends how much he’s asking for. He’s a good player, but I wouldn’t break the bank for him. Might be he wants to move back to England. All this is irrelevant if the club haven’t even tried to talk with him, which seems to be what Tommy is suggesting.

Just noticed on the BBC that Ryan Kent hasn't provided an assist for over a year.
Pat McGroin 725 Report post Posted February 23, 2020 I see Steve Brown saying that we have 6th highest wage bill in the league. I’m a bit surprised by that tbh, especially when you consider we’re often losing targets to other teams in the league
Abernethy Saint 3,371 Report post Posted February 23, 2020 Aye, there was a very long interview on Radio Scotland with Broon, where a lot was said. Worth catching up on a if you can. Think it was about 12.15.

Stevie May is a proven top flight striker unfairly written off because McInnes played him as a left winger or central midfielder. That's him now got 5 goals in his last 9 games. Wright, yet again, fluffed a chance today and arguably that goal could've sealed the win. He still has only 1 league goal, and that was a heavily deflected cross.
