I see Levien & McPhee have agreed to 50% reduction on wages. That's big of them as their contact is up in a couple of months.

Why are they still there anyway .They are both inept & if Budge had balls they would have been toast months ago.

Was going to post this on the Anne Budge thread but it has been locked for some reason. I

Locked to keep the bailiffs out possibly

It was locked because it had turned into the same conversation that's already happening on this thread.

This thing is not going to be over or under control until July at the earliest so SPFL should draw a line under this season. Complete it as of now. Work out a method of deciding what would have been the result of the outstanding game & distribute the cash accordingly. Sky & BT could settle up less 10% or if the money was paid at start of season then SPFL refund 10%. Get the clubs their money.

Then maybe league reconstruction next season.

Scottish cup to be completed at start of next season & SFA get their TV money.

Before commenting listen to what he has to say first..full of factual figures and provable.

At first view thought a lot of what he said sounded credible but not so sure.  Think he’s minimising the seriousness of the virus and it’s not just the over 70’s who are in danger.  Could be more propaganda, look at how his video’s on YouTube are done.  Intelligent looking man wearing glasses, clipboard in hand and sitting on a big fancy armchair!

The guy’s a well-known nut job with some very dodgy views (eg he has repeatedly said everyone who voted Remain is a neo-Nazi). He hasn’t practised medicine for forty years and makes a living pumping out conspiracy drivel.

Sorry... are you referring to Sixties or Dr Coleman? :)

Bit like the old joke about the Murray Royal patient who asks to see a visiting professor to try and prove he is completely sane and has been kept in the Murray for 20 years unnecessarily.  The prof conducts an hour of rigorous tests and becomes convinced the guy is right.  He promises to raise the case with the authorities and walks away only to be hit a stunning blow to the head by a brick.  With blood everywhere he turns to see the guy standing there with a smile saying "you'll not forget now"?

The SPFL and SFA are on a hiding to nothing, if they complete the league no then they will half of Glasgow up in arms if they null and void the league they will have the other half up in arms.

There has been a decision in rugby by the SRU to stop the leagues now with approximately 250 games still to play they took the decision on the basis that season could not restart until July, players would need a pre season to get up to match preparedness which would mean August start, thus affecting next season.

They have now put in place a working group to go through what is happening to the league titles and relegation etc.

Would this work in football probably not as it would be every man for themselves and the sums involved are so big.

UEFA should make a call and say every league is now off and the places that apply now are it, that would be the right decision. As for extending the league to save teams arses NO certainly not, Hearts are there because they are the worst team.

I think they will almost certainly look for the way out that will cause the least tantrums and legal action. That points to ending the season as it stands, and allowing promotion but no relegation. Celtic as champions. Whether the resulting league reconstruction is temporary, or the opportunity is taken to try something new on an on-going basis, will be up to the clubs. It would give us something to talk about, at least.

With no relegation, and with Celtic so far ahead, I can’t see Rangers* getting any support for an alternative proposal. They could try the courts, but they haven’t got any money, and would find that very difficult if UEFA raise no objections and most other leagues follow the same path.

I think they will wait as long as they can to make a decision, in the fervent hope that someone makes it for them.

On the wider COVID situation, it does seem that the UK Government strategy for a longer, shallower curve isn’t working. We are following an identical trajectory to Italy. That means a shorter, sharper curve. That means that, over the next week to ten days, UK death rates are going to rise to horrifying levels, possibly eventually towards a thousand a day. Parts of the NHS are going to break down, some old patients are going to effectively be chosen to die, and the UK government, one step behind as always, will then announce a full lockdown - either in a sequence of steps, or all at once. A near complete or complete lockdown by next week is a probability - maybe sooner if Johnstone finally decides to get ahead of this thing.

Guys, if you can, stay at home. Do the garden, watch Netflix, have a wank. Just don’t go out and kill someone’s maw. Or the nurse that might have saved your maw.

Is it fair though?

Youd have situation where Partick get relegated, costing jobs, when they're 2pts from safety with a game in hand over the team above them.

Raith would then take their place while only 1 point clear at the top too, which will probably cost jobs at Falkirk.

I'm not even sure the league rules would allow it, but that's based on what others are saying that actually looking at rules. Ann Budge has already claimed she would take legal action if they're relegated before all the games are played.

Voiding the season altogether would be an even bigger issue, contract disputes would be rife, over lengths/bonuses etc., youd have teams who've already planned for next season and promotion (United) spending money based on a secured promotion only to then have it taken away from them.

FWIW I've no idea how they do it. Ideally they finish this season off somehow, even if it runs into the next season. Cancelling the League Cup for next season and starting the league season later makes sense, but depends entirely on when football is able to restart.

Changing to Summer football/extending the leagues, arent something I want to see.

I don’t think there are any decisions that require a 100% vote in the SFA or the SFPLFPLL.

How many folk need to disagree?

Cant remember tbh, but youd say Rangers and Hearts would definitely vote against the season ending now and league being left as it is.

If they don’t do relegation, the only team likely to protest is Rangers*. Even they might realise how bad it would look. The various bodies all have different voting rules, and they can also vary according to the nature of the decision. But as I say, I’m pretty sure there is no vote of any kind that requires100% - that would be daft.
