Fascinating, if true the above adds up to 12 which means Hearts did not get a vote. Does that not then mean that these 12 clubs must have decided before voting that the 19/20 season was already called although the SPFL has yet to make an announcement?   Wonder what Rangers* said to that?

If so even less doubt about Tuesday's vote.

We're right in the middle of it, along with the other 5 clubs. Rangers* will no doubt wheel out the revenue they provide to home teams etc and they fact the Sky contract relies on them. It would be interesting if the SFA looked at how prize money was distributed. In some leagues, lower ranked teams can marginally benefit from finishing lower down the league- not by much, so as to avoid "tanking", but just taking a relatively small amount away from top 3 and distributing to bottom six.

I don't understand the logic in rewarding failure. If a team finishes in the bottom half of the league than they should be receiving less than the teams in the top half,  placing wise i think it is £100k or so per place.  

Think the winners of the premier league in Scotland get £3.5m which is probably amount the same amount as they will get in  gate receipts from a few glamour friendlies.  It shows we re playing in a  different planet when you consider the winners in England get

English premier league prize money is £38m plus tv money and the championship Leeds got £40m.

It’s not rewarding failure. 
 

In our current setup, the rich get richer and struggling teams are in a constant battle with no chance of ever realistically competing. 
 

Reversing the payout structure (or at least making payments even) would make for a MUCH more competitive league.

The reverse structure works very well in America relating to the draft system.

Following Friday’s private meeting regarding views on league reconstruction, the Board would like to outline the Club’s position on the matter to our supporters.

Firstly, we’d like to state categorically that as a Club we are not against reconstruction. In fact, our Chairman Steve Brown has been a vocal supporter of league reconstruction for a number of years and in that time, he has spoken to numerous clubs throughout the divisions. He has also raised the topic of league reconstruction at Premiership meetings.

Although clubs were open to the idea, it was never taken forward to a formal discussion.

St. Johnstone Football Club was heavily involved in the last league reconstruction discussions. The process began in November 2012, and by April 2013, the Premiership clubs thought they were in a position to clear the formidable 11-1 voting hurdle. Unfortunately, it did not obtain the necessary support required.

It was more than apparent prior to our discussions last Friday that the majority of clubs both in the Premiership and elsewhere wanted a permanent solution.

With this in mind, we were of the opinion, that it was unrealistic to overcome the many intricacies and complexities involved in pushing through any reconstruction proposals in such a short space of time.

We were concerned that there was a potential risk to the broadcast deal which is the only realistic source of income for all 42 clubs for the foreseeable future. In our opinion, it would be negligent and reckless to do something with the knowledge that it could likely have a detrimental effect to income sources.

Lastly, we are keen to stress that the issue of league reconstruction should not be taken off the table and we remain open to future discussions.

Agree. Same in Australia,  and it works well. May as well have a league with just Sevco & Celtic. They obviously wouldn't agree to it, but a small-ish reduction in payment would make the league more interesting.

It was always my hope that the twin cheeks of the arse would bugger off to an Atlantic league and leave the rest of us in peace. It looked quite likely a few years ago. Sadly, it now seems less likely than ever, with the reduction in travel. We're stuck with them, I'm afraid.

I'd love to see the projected financial impact of a 14-team league for all clubs. It has obviously been done. I doubt it would be beneficial to wee clubs. Just seems a ploy by Tarts possibly Hamilton to avoid relegation. Still don't understand fully why Sevco are so hot on it. Interested if any other leagues say "season is over", positions stand. I know Bundesliga & Serie A are due to resume, but has any league actually pulled the pin?
