Kirsten Robertson and Steve Brown’s agenda has been very clear the past 12 months.

They are extremely lucky they have the excuse of COVID to completely strip down the structure of the club, be that players, day-to-day staff, operations.

They were always going to cut back on players and make staff who work for the club redundant, some of those who have worked for the club for the majority of their working life.

For those contributing a lot of money to St Johnstone, season tickets holders, loyal fans - please think about the above.

Because in no time, our so called ‘family, community club’ that we have dedicated so much time and money to will no longer hold these values if at the hands of Robertson and her commercialised ways.

I think this is part of the problem. Club has been gutted from the inside out and given a lot of the players have been around the club for a long time, this will no doubt filter into a more negative dressing room. Add to that the obvious 'issues' that Tommy had before leaving.

On the pitch, no, it's not been good enough, but we aren't miles off the pace. I know it is well said about the fine margins, but it is true. If we were getting overrun like in the Stark days, then I'd be really concerned, but if we had just turned one of those losses into a draw/win, then really wouldn't look nearly as bad.

I think CD knows what needs doing, just needs to get there. Let's not forget, he's not a total novice at this, he'll be seeing what we all see, but cannot exactly come out and slag off the players or the club this early on.

Have faith.

Lets hope we raise our game v Celtic and dont take a humping as we all know what the first game last season did to us. I think training this week must be about defending set pieces and trying some different things with the strikers to get their heads up.

Think our club is hamstrung by finance but we are not alone.CD must try and play to our strengths ( however he sees them) but zero goals is a surefire recipe for disaster.  We live in hope   COYS

Agree with others that even though its a small squad, its a decent team on paper  and CD should be getting more out of them. Yes he needs more time, but it doesn't seem like there's much fire in their bellies and Im starting to lose that passion as a supporter.

In regards to our owners, Covid has given a lot of companies (clubs) an opportunity to make those 'tough' decisions to cut deep into costs, and cut squads (people) down, some is needed, some can be short term thinking and hurt businesses....... time will tell if prudent Broon has the right path.

To end on a dramatic note, all of the above could be a recipe for disaster when things open up to normal sports again, especially if all clubs survive this and didn't cut as deep.

Remember when the, relatively, untried Steve Lomas was appointed. I came across this post of mine when browsing Facebook today.

"Ok so we hire Steve Lomas and we don't win and hardly take a point in 14 games. An element of Saintees question the appointment in a similar manner to Kean at Blackburn. Then things improve with a good point against Dundee Utd, a win against Celtic, an even better result against Ross County who had not lost in 40 games, a midweek thrashing of Queens Park and today the best feeling of all! Near neighbours Scumdee taken to the cleaners and thrashed at their dump 3-1. I was never shouting for his head but I did have reservations  and felt it prudent to wait until October was over. Now then, what's the odds on him being manager of the month for September?"

Patience fellow Saintees, patience, and I include myself, as I have already posted a comment about the return of a legend.

I'm not sure this is accurate though? According to this it was only the first four games that we barely took a point from, not the first 14: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012–13_St_Johnstone_F.C._season

If that's accurate we took 20 points from our first 14 games under Lomas, which is pretty impressive (and included a win and a draw against Celtic).

I can't really remember Lomas ever being under pressure (not for footballing reasons at least!), as his results were consistently pretty good.

Lomas went on the following run spanning the end of one season and start of the next, plus the Eskisehirspor games taking it to 14 without a win. On a platform where our most successful ever manager was questioned whenever he lost a few games and where a rookie manager has threads like this started only 9 games into his career, it doesn't take a genius to work out what was being said about Steve Lomas.

Ah OK fair enough - apologies to Saintdunc, I wasn't taking into account the end of the previous season.

Some cracking forum drama on that thread. :)

Weird to think that less than two years later we were winning the Scottish Cup.

Main thing I noticed from looking back on it is how many of the regular posters from back then seem to have disappeared.

Only read the first few pages, but theres a cracking post about Stevie May being a "Division 3 player", less than 12 months before his winner against Rosenborg.

And aye, the amount of posters on this site feels like it drops every season.

I think there’s a big difference between slagging a manager off and being frustrated at a manager for a run of poor results and performances.

it’s a big ask of clubs for people to buy season tickets where there’s probably little or no chance we will actually get into see a match before the turn of the year.  This is then compounded by the fact that  accessing saints tv hasn’t been straight forward  and that when you actually  can the product on the pitch has been pretty rubbish.

I would rather have people discussing their frustrations than all blindly agreeing the status quo’s fine and we shouldn’t pass comment on it.

if you look at the large number of contributors who no longer post it’s probably because they were chastised for making a comment they felt strongly about.  Could it not be that the so called ‘knicker wetter‘s’ or ‘embarrassing posters’ are simply frustrated, disappointed or passionate about their club in the knowledge that our team can play so much better?

These are strange times indeed ...in no way am I a happy clappy kind of supporter but we do have to give CD a chance.. I think I even said the same thing about TW, no one is brilliant to start off with... look at Alex Ferguson at Man U... this was never going to be an easy gig for anyone following Saint Tommy... think we should just get behind him and hope for the best and if we get to 10th place pray that Covid stops the season ;-)

Spot on comrade.

The self righteous Brown and 'status quo is absolutely acceptable' narrative is not tiring anymore...... it is exhausting.

Spot on they always say first prior is avoid relegation. Wouldn’t imagine that has changed.

Think that changed last season - Steve Brown said in February that we had the 6th highest wage bill in the league and bemoaned the fact that we'd targeted top six and a Cup run (both of which we then went on to achieve, but he didn't say anything about that ).

Can't imagine we've budgeted for those things this time round though.

Nail head, I would fall into the bracket of short term frustration and moan like hell when I see the results lately and probably did last year when we started poorly, but everyone reacts differently and in the end we all would love to be winning every week with brilliant performances. But that will never happen and is part if the appeal of teams like saints, not glory hunters following the bigots or some random team in the greatest league in the world.

The chastised comment is spot on, its about opinions bit like an arsehole everyone has them!!

Brown and Tommy can't be faulted with the results and where we are etc at the present time and will probably be vindicated with decisions come the end of the season.

But just get the feeling this time we are flying close to the edge with lack of bodies, new manager and lack of cutting edge in the team. Again we are not party to what goes on and its all hearsay as a supporter, but it's going to be a roller coaster this season me thinks!! Coys
