Not that sad, you can still get Grouse and Bells easily enough at around £14 - £ 15 a bottle. Dewar's White Label is a little more difficult but most specialist whisky shops stock it at £20 - £22 per bottle. Not that I indulge, a man telt me!! Guys who comment on my post are welcome also. Seem to remember an interest in the various blends of Grouse now on offer from the Manchester area. Not that I would know anything about Black Grouse or Mellow Grouse.

Dave H
Cheers for sharing, the city could have been booming if it were not for tough decisions during tough times. Whisky is alive and kicking. Love the stuff. Good pic of Dewars on Glasgow Road that the article mistakenly says London Road.
saintgscot
I stopped drinking bells as it removed Perth from its label. Although more dunked LAUGH OUT LOUD but I love grouse now it has removed Perth from its label.
Lochwinnochsaintee
Back in the 70s a friend had a summer job at the Royal Perth golf club as a barman. Lord Mansfield came in at lunchtimes and asked for a whisky, which of course had to be Dewars without further inquiry. My mate just could not summon up the courage to ask him “Would you like to try a Bells for a change today , sir?”

Apologies, I need a history lesson.

It left some deep scars still felt today. Cagey
