If Livi lose both games 1-0 and we beat Ross County 4-1 our GD will be exactly the same including goals for and against what would then happen,

An interesting point but have to say the Bookies would give you good odds on those 3 score lines.

Have we even scored 4 goals at home all season?

We need to concentrate on beating a County side who have started picking up results. Our home form this season has been really poor, to the point where I'd be more confident if this was an away game.

This is from the SPFL's Wikipedia page so might not be accurate, but here's what it says:

If the points, goal difference, goals scored, and head-to-head results between teams are equal, a play-off game held at a neutral venue shall be played to determine the final placings. The play-off will only occur when the position of the teams affects the outcome of the title, European qualification, relegation, or second stage group allocation and shall not occur otherwise.

So basically Livi would finish above us because they beat us on head-to-head results.

We would both be in the top 6. Unless i have missed a bit and you are assuming that St Mirren also won and they went into 5th place.

No goals scored comes before head to head. We have scored more

I also read it as head to head comes into effect at the end of the season when we have played each other twice at the split it will 2 away and 1 home

But in the scenario @ejksjfc suggested where Livi lose both games 1-0 and we win our game 4-1, it would mean both Saints and Livi would be on the same number of goals (37).

If head-to-head isn't used at this stage, how would they know who to put into the top 6 and who to put into the bottom 6? Surely it could be used at any point of the season to rank teams when required, in the same way that goal difference is used throughout the season.

06/02/21,     Livingston - St. Johnstone    1 : 2
12/12/20,     St. Johnstone - Livingston    1 : 2
26/09/20,     Livingston - St. Johnstone    2 : 0

Which games do they use Livi unfair advantage of 2 home games. First 2 Livi get the nod last 2 played not resolved

I think they'd use all three. Get what you're saying about Livi having an unfair advantage but the entire league format is set up around that same unfair balance. I don't think they can suddenly start saying it's unfair in some scenarios but not in others.

Gary was right: Head-to-head is used after goals scored, and before a playoff. (league rule C35)

Given our home record this year, you could argue it the other way...

The cup win and a good run of form seems to be having an odd affect on some. Anyone actually think that Saints can win 4-1. All we can hope is that Saints beat Ross County by any margin and St Mirren get beat. Its a chance that at the turn of the year we wouldnt have thought possible.

You are quite right we are getting all excited about a set of results which are most unlikely to happen and which could run into the sand as early as Saturday if Livi pick up a single point.

Our main hope rests on beating County ( 1 - 0  will do) and hoping St Mirren don't win.  We can afford for them to draw so long as is not 4 0r 5 all.

It doesn’t matter what the score draw is they will still be -8. If we win ours will be still be better.

Don't think anyone's suggesting they expect it to happen TBH. Just discussing how the league would work things out in that scenario.
