FWIW I hope for Saints sake that it's a player Saints fans would be really happy to sign. I.e. Middleton. Anything less (Hastie or whatever) and it's a tease gone horribly wrong.

Middletons off to St Mirren on loan.

Let the meltdowns commence.

And now for some good news

Rotherham are ready to up their offer for St Johnstone defender Shaun Rooney but threaten to walk away if the deal is not done this week. (Courier,)

Looks like they will walk away as they will not offer what he is worth

An opposition analyst is overkill for saints. Thankfully Grieve appears focused on finding players. And CD agrees too, stating that he's only interested in how his players perform, not the opposition. Makes sense. Because he already knows pretty damn well how they'll set up.

There is absolutely zero chance that Davidson is "only interested in how his players perform, not the opposition." That would be madness and he wouldn't even have been given the job if that was his attitude.

St Mirren splashing the cash this year....be interesting to see what happens.

Middleton was very good for us overall but I'm looking forward to seeing who CD brings in.

He may have been on CD's list and we got gazumped  by St Mirren. If he has gone, he has gone . Let's move on and forget about why he is not here. Who is next on our list?

I take it this is something that is on Pie and Bovril as there is nothing on Twitter. They have been trying to get him every time he has gone out on loan for the last few years.

One player that things have gone quiet on is Greg Stewart now a free agent having seen his contract end at Rangers.

I'm sure the would have. Personally, I'd cash in at c.£300k if anyone comes up with the cash.

Get him signed up for another year and if he plays like he has done we could be looking at another 0 on the prices that are flying around and possibly from bigger clubs than Rotherham.

Taken from The National

“St Johnstone are closing in on a deal for Finnish striker Eetu Vertainen, according to reports.

The 22-year-old is currently plying his trade with top-flight outfit Ilves but Finland's media have reported that he has now travelled to Perth to sign a deal.

Callum Davidson is keen to boost his attacking options after Guy Melamed left the club this summer after landing a historic cup double.

Saints are gearing up for a European double header with Galatasaray next week in the Europa League and Vertainen could be thrown into the action.

The U21 international has bagged four goals in 11 games this term and can also be utilised in midfield.

Former HJK Helsinki attacker Vertainen played in a friendly against Rangers two years ago and impressed during a 3-2 defeat to Steven Gerrard's side”.

No they won't. His stock is probably as high as it's going to get. Let him go and get him back in a few years.
