SaintJet Posted May 13, 2021 Report Share Posted May 13, 2021 Notwithstanding the Covid issues hitting our plans we welcome Livingston ( no E ) to Perth on Saturday for what will be a decider for fifth place and a passport to European Football. Some of the lads isolating should be back and we'll have a better idea who has been affected on Saturday. Can't believe that after all we've been through that we can be hit so hard when we are on the precipice of greatness. A draw will do but lets get this done. Abernethy Saint Posted May 13, 2021 Report Share Posted May 13, 2021 In 9 days time we could either be celebrating winning 2 of the 3 major trophies available in Scotland in the same season AND qualifying for Europe twice AND being guaranteed lottery winning sums of money AND fending off 7-figure offers for some of our players, or all sitting praying another diddy team gets disqualified so we can scrape into some daftie wee Euro tournament someone made up when they were drunk. Whilst consoling ourselves with the OTHER major trophy we just won. It’s an overused phrase, but you really, really couldn’t make this up. If we come 5th, we go into the conference qualifying If we win the cup, we have a Europa League qualifier (win that and it’s a £5m payday). Lose the qualifier and we go directly into the conference with a £3m pay day. We could still technically get Europe even if we lose to Livi as they don’t meet the required standards for a license but I wouldn’t want to rely on that. For Livi it's their cup final, regardless of whether they are eligible for Europe, they will go in hard. Team selection will be very interesting. If players are available, same team as LC final? It's a crazy indication of our season that this game, which would usually garner huge interest is now something of an "also ran" to the cup. But we need the point.
