Saints January '22 Transfer Activity

A keeper should be on our agenda as Zander is surely on an agenda somewhere. Surely we can find a keeper of the quality that Dundee Utd have unearthed. 
 

I also hope there are going to be more than a couple more on the door then we can send a couple away back to their parent clubs. Apart from THAT free kick Middleton has not set the heather on fire.

Saints are in a bit of a pickle with Clark & McCart, which must be sorted soon. Hopefully if Aberdeen & Utd are indeed interested, we might get some coin if they are competing. 

So, we'll likely need a keeper & a defender. Maybe a decent defender on loan now Devine & Dendoncker gone. God knows if we go in again for the Partick lad. Makes Eetu's position very precarious if we do. 

This window has a pretty nervous feel to it.

Do we know if Partick are short for cash? Spotted a comment on one of their feeds saying that they are £350k "adrift" of the other clubs in the Championship and so they may have to wheel and deal in order to secure signatures. We should definitely go back to them and negotiate hard for Rudden

As in the case of Shaw who picked Motherwell rather than joining the bottom placed club. Some will relish the challenge of coming to McD to try and make a difference. Others will take the easy route and/or follow the money.

Shaw didn't pick Motherwell though!Saints were outbid in terms of loan fee

Absolutely no danger we should be letting go of Clark this window. Not even for £250k. Let him leave on a free in the summer, he’s hardly irreplaceable.

If Clark goes then I wouldnt be surprised if we didnt replace him immediately and Parish got the #1 shirt. Dont think we should be letting him go this window. He's probably been our best player this season.

Shaw might regret not coming to Saints as he is not guaranteed a game at Motherwell. Pretty sure he would have got straight into our 1st team.

They’ve just signed Robbie Crawford from Motherwell so obviously some money there

Letting Clark go this window has to be a non-starter. Without him, who knows how far adrift we’d be. We aren’t in the position to risk bedding in a new ‘keeper. I think I’d rather take the hit and lose him for free in the summer than go through what United went through with Kawashima, or Killie went through last season.

Expecting Parish to be number 1 next season would be stupid regardless of what division we end up in.

Anyone know if Thistle are genuinely looking at offers for Rudden or are just taking the piss during the current window?

I hope we have a plan B and C in the pipes incase Thistle have no intentions to move him on.

Absolutely no way we should be letting a player like Clark go to Utd or Aberdeen. I know we aren’t as big a team but if he leaves he deserves to go to bigger than those two.

He's out of contract this Summer and they'll earn a pittance in compensation. 

They either take a fee now, or gamble on him signing a new deal with the knowledge it likely ends with then getting nothing in the Summer if he leaves.

Exactly. If the club receives decent offer for any of them they'd have to talk about it. I'd say only Clark is irreplaceable if it's done early in the window.

Surely Clark would be looking at OF or championship level down south?

Utd or Aberdeen is the same as playing for us standard wise but I’m sure the bump in wages would be a considerable jump

He would have to sit in the stand until next season as he has played for United and Beerschot so far this season.,

Cannot see Saints paying a wack of money for that to happen.
